The Nine have always been some of the most mysterious beings in the Destiny universe — ancient, formless intelligences born from the physics of the universe itself.
But with so much focus on The Witness and the Final Shape, it feels like the Nine were left behind…
Until now.
With the events of Echoes and the lead-up to Edge of Fate, Bungie is dropping subtle hints that the Nine still have a crucial role to play — maybe even in how the next age of Destiny unfolds.
🧠 In this video, I break down:
The complete timeline of the Nine, from Destiny 1 to Season of the Drifter, Prophecy Dungeon, Xûr’s past Heresy and now Edge of Fate.
How they connect to Dark matter, paracausality, and interstellar consciousness.
Why their return could shape the events of Edge of Fate — especially in a universe trying to rebuild itself.
If the Witness tried to shape reality through Darkness...
What are the Nine shaping reality through?
Would love to hear your thoughts. Do you think the Nine are friend, foe — or something else entirely?

Making a body and moving a paracausaly based mind should require both powers being used simultaneously. The main question is how are they going to wield this power for their goal. And since some are allies and some aren’t, it’ll likely be a ‘to save our allies we save our enemies to haunt us later’ schtick.
