I'm gonna need a Bungie developer to explain it like I'm five years old why it takes what feels like five full seconds and twenty-five button presses to dismount skimmers when you want to, especially while "skimming" mid-air. Thanks in advance.
All others are welcome to leave their response, but please keep it civil. You never know who might be reading over your shoulders.

It’s to mitigate what people can do. People can already sparrow fly, skimmers with the same tech would be crazy. That said, for the 99.9% of people including myself that don’t know or don’t care about that, it’s incredibly annoying all the time.
-
Because... reasons? 🤷 lol definitely annoying for sure.
-
You can't ask me to explain it to you like you're 5 AND keep it civil. Just tying both hands behind my back. Completely unfair.
-
To prevent "abuse" even tough people capable of abusing flying are doing it with normal sparrows anyways as its faster and more effective. (Also there is a trick that allows you to instantly dismount a skiller mid air, i dont remember the steps for it tough as i just registered it as a macro)
-
It's why I never use them. Never had the issue with normal sparrows.
-
They added an extra cooldown after you have been grinding so that you can’t insta summon a new skipper once you run out of juice.
-
OP: Bump++ ✅✅✅ Better still - make it optional for anyone who prefers the current dismount. 👈👈 Murphy, my ghost, agrees! 👻 That is all. Ease Springs and Carry On. 🖖
-
It’s the same as a sparrow no ?

When skimming you need to cancel it then you can dismount. If skimmers are an issue then why not use a normal sparrow?

It's two buttons: Skim button to stop the skim Dismount button once you land
