I can’t be the only one that feels a bit discouraged about armor 3.0
One of the first rules in the Art of war is to make sure you even want to go to war. I definitely feel a bit discouraged about edge of fate. Truth is I’m 40 years old now. I once heard a developer say “we want people to marry Destiny” it’s been a toxic marriage. But I’ve held on and been faithful since 2014. Some might even say I held on longer than I should have. When I think about all the times I went flawless to get pinnacle armor or all the GM’s I beat to get the best weapons. I don’t feel too excited to start all of that over again. A good indicator of the future is the past. I’ve had a lot of good moments with Bungie, but it looks like it may be the end of the road for this Texas cowboy. It’s looking like it’s time for me to tip my hat and ride off in the sunset. Maybe I’ll go find a woman and get married. I suppose it’s time for me to have children and just be a family man. See you guys star side.

this is my final month of destiny 2 adventure, it's better to revisit destiny 1 than playing edge of fate

TFS was the optimum jump off point. EoF just drags out the inevitable.

Never forget… sunset my gear i sunset my wallet…

Done right Armor 3.0 is the best thing this game ever had. The way armor and stats work right now makes the farming completely stale. For a "looter" game D2 is super shallow. Once you have your set of gear to achieve your double or triple 100s, you are done. There are no set bonuses, and no unique effects on pieces of armor aside from the exotic ones. Not a single MMORPG does that. It took over 10 years for BUNGO to do the most basic beech element in games of this type.
-
I'm glad I quit already. I think I'd get depression if I had to see all my gear get thrown away like last week's left overs. So much time and effort put into min maxing, getting the perfect set up (for me) and it'll all be useless?? FORK that!! This kinda BS has happened TOO many times already. It just reinforces my belief that I've made a good decision.

Edited by Smudger: 6/16/2025 2:04:22 PMI've recently had about 4 or 5 months off of the game, and I've just returned about 2 weeks ago, and tbh I've thoroughly enjoyed this episode so far. Sometimes, a break is what's needed. Personally, I'm looking forward to the weapon and armour changes, especially the armour ones. I haven't had to grind for new armour for about 2 and half years on all 3 characters. When i felt burnt out recently and had my break, i thought the only thing that would bring me back was a complete fresh start, like a D3. They made it clear that wasn't going to happen, so to me, this is the next best thing. Is it ideal no, not really, but it's reinstated a bit of excitement about rebuilding my characters again. This is just my opinion, though. Bud if you feel the need to ride off into the sunset as you put it you go for it. Happy trails.

What's the pinnt of the current system when 90% of players shard every single armour drop? Also, it's not sunsetting.
-
the game will survive everything, why? Addiction. How to stop it,boycott bungie, plain and simple. they will do anything and they know they get away with it,becus as long as people play D2, they will keep doing these weird choices.
-
Yep. I cancelled my pre-order and moved to waiting for reviews once they announced they were not only sunsetting all my weapons, but all of my armor, exotic armor, and all the exotic class items I’ve worked for this year. Talk about absolutely having zero respect for the player’s play time and commitment to your game. Nah. I start in the beginning and pre-ordered every release since 2014. But I ain’t having all my gear sunset again. If Bungie wanted to start over with completely new systems, a complete reset of gear, and separate the old game from the new - then Bungie should’ve re-invested all the money we’ve spent on Destiny and produced a new game over pissing their customer support on a stupid extraction shooter that’s built on plagiarism.

I might not be 40 years old and still have a good long life ahead of me, I still feel this as well. For me, it's more I just don't get the time to play Destiny - between wild work hours, to just wanting to play other games depending on my mood - I still don't have "perfect" loadouts that others in my group keep saying I should have had already (Such as Double or Triple 100 stat armour sets). I haven't completed everything across the seasons, completed particular quests, and missed whole events. Hell, I still have some quests dating back to Shadowkeep that I haven't completed yet. The last couple of years has been difficult to keep following Destiny. The major expansion stories have been good - with TFS being an amazing end to the saga. Destiny was my favorite go-to Game as well, so it has been quite heartbreaking to see it just sink deeper into disarray. The worst has been just how pushy the FOMO has been (Such as get these items now or they're gone forever/until the next year!) While I have already preordered the Collectors and Ultimate editions, I've been debating since making the orders whether I want to keep the orders or not.
-
I can't help but think that their changes might not be received as poorly by vets if it came in this drastically overhauled form possibly with the Beyond Light era or even Shadowkeep era. I'm not a fan of it and I canceled my preorder. BUT I think if we hadn't poured 7 years into a system that was essentially the same in terms of stats, we'd be able to adapt. Seems most players wish this dlc was more centered on activity and narrative content. And exotics, weapons & gear, new director locations, new strikes, new dungeons and raids, new subclass... Location abilities and a mega grind and disjointed portal to director shenanigans don't sound appealing... At all. The Star Wars stuff and coming Star Wars exotics shown in trailers were very clearly to stranglehold some residual addicted lifers into staying over the year after everyone else bailed. I'm mostly just interested in some what player numbers and preorder numbers look like between now and launch. As well as the first two weeks after EoF launches.
-
Another example of how clueless Bungle is about what players want. If they actually played they wouldn't be doing this. I want new stories and new locations and new enemies, not them screwing with my hard earned gear.
-
They can't wipe our gear and expect us to grind the same destination and activities for new gear and weapons. We need to leave SoL we need multiple new destinations. I refuse to do this again. Pre order has been canceled.
-
Imgaine thinking that creating a new system that nukes your current items.......that should have been a new game....bungie hates their players....change my mind.
-
Bro go find that wife ! And impregnate her asap! time ain’t waiting for no man. destiny can be your scapegoat (if it’s still playable then) if not it will be better to have the memory’s then holding on to a sinking ship. Bungie have moved on to marathon, Destiny is on life support. I am upset even writing it because I have also played since 2014. And I want the game to never die but it is not our choice, bungie has decided.

Edited by Glenny: 6/15/2025 1:34:15 PMYeah I fully left once I heard all our gear is gonna be useless. I played PvP 90% of the time these days and even that was casually. Hop on play trials/iron banner etc hop off This complete reset is the equivalent of RuneScapes evolution of combat for me. The games old, pve is just copy and paste. There’s so many other fun games out there! Don’t marry this one aha Cbf grinding all over again
-
For any new changes for any new upcoming dlc, I’d take it as a grain of salt. And don’t trust them with your money because they’ll just be happy to take it.

Edited by Mark, Scholar of Stars: 6/16/2025 3:53:03 PMFrom what I saw now on YouTube, the new system is restrictive. There's no overlapping. It's like a penalty for not playing high-tier activities for what reason ever. As an example, it's just enough to be a solo player. That's unfair to all of those who played Destiny 2 for years and supported Bungie. Because, I can't imagine, everyone who's playing the game has the time to get organized in a clan. There are people who simply can't play all activities. This isn't their problem, because everybody's different. It should be possible to acquire those tiers of gear in different levels of activities, which would be encouraging, because those high-tier activities are doable for some but not for others. Honestly, I doubt that this will help Destiny 2 as a product to have himself reestablished again. It's so depleted, and now they're making it even harder to experience what's good about it. I can imagine the developers put a lot of effort into Armor 3.0, but for once more, it also reminds me of Bungie's radicalism they've been working with for years. I think this form of development is just antiquated. Edit: In the videos I saw, there's also content that looks recycled again. Like a passage of the Tangled Shore, where you advance into an underground. Unintelligible. 2. Edit: Just to be fair. I continue to watch videos about the new DLC and the sum of changes. It looks like the Tangled Shore is coming back.

Im not far behind. It seams like all they did for ie.."changes" is make a the game an awful grind using your power level to do it. We want changes as in new and exciting game play not crazy armor and weapon changes that is a change but wheres the fun those are mechanics changes not game play fun. If this grind is way way over the top I sure as heck wont pay for that.
-
Just enjoy the last few weeks and then uninstall.
-
Yeah it's been one horrible move after another with bungie. The money they spend destroying the game, could of went towards a new subclass , new strikes and exotics. These changes are for trying to get new players . But during this bungie is betting it all on black. Last ditch effort . Most of there player base ,long time loyal players are getting kicked to the curb . for another pipe dream. investing in new games ,when they had it right in front of them all along.can't see the trees for the forest.

Confused - old
If the gameplay and activities are fresh, with a new interesting storyline then I’m fine with the armour changes. I’m attached to weapons, not armour rolls. When they sunset weapons that was a real mistake. But if gameplay is more of the same then all they’ve done is wipe my armour so I have to go get it again. Not cool. We’ll see. -
HI Bungie People have a lot of time and investment in there weapons and armor making all the equipment a player has become attach to not as good as new weapons will upset lot players, you have people grinded this game long and hard to get that particular perk rolls for there favourite guns and if you cannot use any gun you wish after month then what is point grinding for that weapon in first place when it will be irrelevant, this better not happen exotic weapons as if my Vex Mythoclast become irrelevant Im out No one wants to be in a hamster wheel every month grinding power levels to play content for it to be reset the next month

A game is not a marriage, it's an open polyamorist relationship To think you have to commit to a video game, is just unhealthy, I play alot of varied different games to make sure things don't get stale at the end of the day, It's a product, and sometimes I want Coke, and sometimes I want Pepsi, but I don't owe either my loyalty, I already paid them my money!!!
