This PvP experience is horrible, and it's clear that nobody making changes to it cares or even plays it.
Also, it would be nice if we could get dedicated servers after 11 years of asking.

They had people, they were all transfered to Marathon.

I’ve learned long ago, a company is just the sum of its parts - in this case, it’s people. Sadly, 2025 Bungie is wholly different than the Bungie that created Halo 😞. And that is only one facet of the equation. The landscape for games is completely different today. We’re unfortunately living in a time where players are steeped in micro transactions and minimal content deliveries. There are a few games that have resisted the formula and succeeded (Horizon Zero Dawn, for example), but they are becoming fewer every year.
-
Bungie is to trash a company to do anything like that. The also Plagerize shhiiiiii as well. Trash company trash game. Trash Expierience
-
Lol who plays pvp in 2025
-
I saw a unicorn the other day as well 🤣

IMHO: if/when D3 becomes more than a possibility, here’s what I would do…just on the PvP side of things… 1. End Crossover as a given…have 3x separate pathways, ie, Console / PC…and a F2P taster option for time limited games, eg, 7x games to try, then buy D3 or bounce. No repeats allowed…it’d be a 1x deal per IP address or other unique identifier. 2. Create a credible, well-managed, tiered ladder system that features separate Divisions, eg, Div 1 for ninjas…down to Div 5 for old 0.3% tortoise’s like me. Within those Divisions would be a well-defined League Table based on a player’s unique skill rating, which would also feature a country / region weighting…and, of course - connectivity, too! 3. Progress would begin with a PvP 101 Tutorial and Basic Shooting / Movement / Combat / Weapons Skills Tests…and once done, all players enter a series of testing sessions against other new players to determine their abilities…once done, each player receives a unique PvP ID number, and can then enter the regular play lists. 4. Further progress depends on playing the various game modes, eg, Comp - for solo players, and Comp for 3- and 6-man teams. Individual progress is based purely on results and games played, which will automatically determine promotion / relegation, accordingly. Dormant players are removed from the active Comp lists every other week…and must start their PvP Comp journey from the beginning…to help keep things from getting bogged down. 5. Anti-Cheat oversight will be ruthless. Anyone caught will be flagged and tagged, based on a 3-strike policy, with appropriate suspension penalties applied. 3x confirmed strikes = a permanent suspension from the active Comp arena. 6. PvP Game Modes outside of the active Comp lobby will cater to a more relaxed and fun range of game modes in which credits can be earned to complete PvP bounties / quests / triumphs. 7. Weapons / armour / loot / gear / ships / skimmers / ghosts - are unique to the PvP pathway. 8. Wall of Fame - located in the Tower, is where the top, active Comp players / teams names are indelibly inscribed…gained through the Trials weekly / monthly competitions. Last Man / Team Standing could be one such event! Prizes - mostly unique shaders / emblems and armour, plus the WoF inscription, should encourage some serious competition from the top players, and create some very watchable streaming opportunities. 9. Dedicated Regional Servers are a given! 10. A dedicated, experienced PvP Team at BHQ will be another given, to create, build, maintain and manage PvP. 11-20. Reserved…tba as/when possible. I’m sure there’s lots more, though for now, that’s the general gist of it! Be sure to add your own thoughts / suggestions, accordingly, if/as desired. That is all. Carry On. 🫡

the main change pvp needs is an ability cd nerf, for primary guns the balance is pretty good outside some subtypes that sucks
-
It's quite remarkable that the same company that produced the best PvP on console (Halo 2 and Halo 3) also made Destiny PvP. But out of all the things I hate about Destiny PvP I probably hate - and this is going to be a bit controversial - the maps and how they promote run n gunning the most.
-
You know where they moved all the pvp devs to? Marathon. And you see how that thing turned out? Any bungie pvp from now on is gonna be pretty bad.
-
They don’t care anymore, maybe when marathon doesn’t do as well as they think it is they might listen 🤷🏻♂️
-
They should get rid of pvp entirely and focus on pve 😂
-
It’s definitely a soup sandwich! I think Sony will do a lot better once they take over.
-
Wont happen.....bungie hates thier players. I mean they came out with Marathon that just stole stuff.....creativity is gone. the hardcore Tarkov players said that they would even play Marathon.....
-
Edited by Joulevette12: 6/14/2025 1:46:00 AMHonestly they really need to have a pvp dev team Cause I'm honestly sick of all these nerfs and buffs going back and forth every season, mid season and expansion. This thin line balance for both modes not working anymore man because they definitely need to find a way to actually separate both Pvp and PvE and it's due to this both modes hadn't improved much in 10years Idk why they didn't take advantage of armor 3.0 to actually balance out some pvp ability issue by creating some exclusive pvp armor to keep them in check

Isn’t it almost time for the yearly announcement of their “renewed focus on PVP”?
This PvP experience is horrible, and it's clear that nobody making changes to it cares or even plays it. Also, it would be nice if we could get dedicated servers after 11 years of asking.
I've left destiny for this exact reason, and left is a loose interpretation. I use to play every day for hours in pvp. Now I jump on the last month of a season, play the pve stuff so I don't have to wait on time gate, grab whatever exotic mission there is and then jump off the game for another 3-4 months. If pvp is ever good again I'll be on every day.
-
Plus the Server in PvP activities has been crap the last few days. Contacting Servers or booted to orbit when I am absolutely certain it's not on my end.
-
The PvP in this game is why I came to play the game in the start after my brother played D1 beta. Im not a super sweat meta player, but my drive to play the game comes more from the PvP side of it than the PvE side. If I have no interest in playing the PvP, why do I need to play PvE to get my gear to use in PvP? So, my interest in the game entirely starts to wane. The purpose of PvE is to provide the tools to use in PvP. This is a PvP game first, and provides PvE as a way to earn the gear to improve the play in PvP. There is rampant cheating, complete sandbox/class imbalance at times, and extremely poor matchmaking (can we have limits to the latency in connections that players are allowed to matchmake with). Im ok with the skill delta, but the connection issues just make it unplayable.

They have one. They just moved them all to Marathon and their other incubation projects ~2020, which is when it started to become dogsht.
-
i think they have stopped caring about pvp for quite a while now with the cheaters just running around without any fear of getting banned by bungies made up battleye
-
Why would they? I think almost every pvp player bought the new expansion… so clear to bungie that even with the littlest of investment they get max revenue so why spend more def time on it? There is no reason
-
Rather those efforts were put into pve…. Specifically improving the patrol experience
-
Just so you know destiny is not a PVP focused game and will never be an E sport and will never be balanced as such...it's just a game...relax and just play for the fun of it...I don't like PVP either so just don't play it it's not that hard...
-
The PVP team is working on marathon...and has the servers....so I think it's going to be a while...
-
Bungie should just drop pvp entirely.
