1, (Re)Grinding - Think a big reason why many players don't enjoy grinding anymore is because the game loop has been very stale & predictable for years on end from a macro perspective - if the game doesn't considerably update itself on a semi-regular basis, people get bored/tired of the same old same old and move onto the new freshness somewhere else...
2, Serving the Audience/Quality of Content/Management - Reality is, Destiny doesn't cater it's audience, it has previously tried to extract the most from the least possible resources, relying on gimmicks and cheap burn content on average - seasons/episodes are at a very poor quality and the team isn't agile enough to shift development at a fast enough pace due to poor management, institutional bloat and a of lack of overarching vision. I like Tyson Green and think their vision for the game is what's been needed for a long time, If this can be executed and at a pace that can retain/grow players remains to be seen.
3, PR & Trust - As much as I like Destiny 2 for some things, Bungie has destroyed a significant part of their own fanbase. Goodwill and trust is sorely lacking, to the point many want to see Bungie fail due to the volume of their mistakes & perceived arrogance - Bungie is not a likeable company, as much as some might think this doesn't matter, it often has a large impact on overall game sales and marketing.

[Disclaimer I know I wrote a lot but this topic it's very heavy because you're talking about the change of Destiny 2 basically they're rebooting the entire game. Bungie could had sold edge of fate as D3 if they wanted to! ] Uncertain Future only time will tell. Yeah like I played a lot of games in the past I played outriders cyberpunk and I can tell you what Bungie is doing here I seen a lot of companies do it it's experimentation they're trying to change up their product to see how it plays out. Most likely Bungie finds Destiny very boring and they want to change it; they want to mix things up they want to increase the grind they want to add new systems/ tiers, so players have a reason to play more and so it's a new experience. As Datto and Fallout said who got Early Access that Bungie said to them in an interview that Bungie wants to see how edge of Fate plays out and they are willing to make changes if the majority of the community and streamers believe that certain things need to be tuned. Same streamer said that they are worried about the material economy that will players be able to get enough enhancement cores to level up their favorite gear to level 200 because once you get past 200 you have to acquire the new resource called unstable core and you can get it buy dismantling tier gear, but they are very confused if it's going to be a guaranteed dismantle or if you have to dismantle multiple gear to get one core. I attached a video back up what I am saying watch the full video because what he says towards the end he explains that Bungie has stated that they believe even players who grind non-stop will not be able to reach 450 Power by the end of the season. Basically the way they said this they made it seem like they wanted the grind to be harder and not easy. https://youtu.be/-lEBcOlNjsk?si=U9MzZg0jvuklHbW0 There was even people had Early Access who explain that when you're trying to go for an A score which is the highest score you can get where you do have the ability to get tier 5 rewards if you go below an A score you will get rewards lower than tier 5. Simply this means that you would possibly have to grind the same Mission over and over in order to make sure you get the highest score you can possibly get to get the best rewards that you're trying to acquire such as tier 5. Players don't understand this system is co op focused similar to co op focused story missions in the pale heart. Solo players can do it but if your team is dysfunctional you need to consider to leave the group and find a different group teamwork is key for tier rewards. Similar to outriders expedition must be fast but also effective work together. https://youtu.be/KWv3nSm_mEM?si=y3fsiChIlMYkimso 20:50 I know a lot of the streamers who had Early Access for edge of Fate they are very concerned with the puzzles for the campaign they explained that they're very complex for the average player. Ex in the first mission it took them like an hour or two for them just to figure out the main puzzle to proceed further into the mission they believe it needs to be tune down. https://youtu.be/-lEBcOlNjsk?si=U9MzZg0jvuklHbW0 3:50
