Pantheon was epic. ROT9 is meh.

The comparisons are so wildly contrasting. One’s time gated to all hell, sucking the fun out of it - the other was very well paced. One has desire-able loot for the following year, that’ll even get a sweet buff update once the next year starts - the other has gear that’s being made obsolete on day 1 of the next release. One had tons of aspirational cosmetic and fun rewards on top of high end drops from the encounters original loot pool - the other a single item. One seems to be a momentary forgettable experience - the other prepped you for the following expansion and left a memorable impression. The concept for a Dungeon equivalent to Pantheon was an awesome idea, but it needs a lot more time in the oven to compete.

I know its free content but i think the expectation was set by into the light and this severely underdelivered I expected more dungeons but the biggest disappointment for me was how bad the loot is, and its not even future proofed to work with the new system like the brave weapons were. Brave weapons are still some of the best to this day. ROTN weapons are bad to begin with and will be garbage in EOF since they are basically like tier 3 guns with no 15% bonus. I will say the one thing going for it is that it actually is a lot of fun to just play in my opinion. Very very rarely do we get experiences as challenging as ultimatum mode and as someone who plays the game for the challenging stuff I think the difficulty is really well balanced and fun; its hard enough to test even the toughest players and guarantee some wipes especially when going for gold, but reasonable enough that it can be mastered and rolled through by a competent and practiced team. There is no artificial difficulty, not even the mods, its totally reasonable and quite fun. It made three dungeons that I did not love into super engaging experiences that gave me a newfound appreciation for them. With how strong our builds our these days and a lot of things getting ready to be phased out, its fun to have an activity where we can test our peak strength. So despite how bad the loot is I have had fun genuinely just playing for the sake of playing which is rare. But I am in the extreme minority of players that jumps on the challenging content and enjoys mastering it... people who play the looter shooter for the loot get nothing.
