New stats, tiers and armor set bonuses are plenty to encourage people to get new stuff. Adding that the damage of all old weapons will be worse every season is silly and should be removed. Its sunsetting again but stealthier.

Speak with the wallet folks, turn off the game for a week, cancel pre-order. This will speak louder than words, especially as they are about to launch 2 new games in a couple months.
-
At the end of every season all weapons are getting flat nerfs feels bad, especially when it'll effect exotics too.

Sunset my gear i sunset my wallet

LFG, KWTD, Tier 5 Weapons Only

Bungie won’t change any of this. They’ll listen to their echo chamber that you see here and on Reddit, as it strokes their ego and reinforces their own opinion of what the direction of the game should be. We’ll see how bad it is when EoF drops. I’ll willing to be wrong and genuinely hope this isn’t the massive clusterf**k I think it will be. I very much doubt that I am wrong though. As least I’ll get the bittersweet schadenfreude of posting on here that “I told you so…”, to all the Bungie glazers and those that can’t stand that we have a problem with the game’s implementation.

Edited by BackdoorBacon: 6/12/2025 7:36:14 PMIt’s going to effect armor too, won’t be an issue initially since everybody will be going for the new armor set bonuses on new gear anyway but when the next season rolls around and your perfectly rolled armor loses it’s bonus damage reduction, people are have a stroke I bet.
-
Nah I want the bump and it will get me to grind the new gear. Nice incentive honestly.
-
How is this any different then the current system, where the newest weapons origin perk being in the artifact giving bonus damage to those weapons?
-
Where did they say this?
-
What? My old weapons are going to do less damage than new ones even if they are the same archetype? Is this in crucible too?
-
Ya definitely not going to use the "new" rotation of gear after I get my armor sorted out unless the stats are better anyways...the artifact already makes things inconsistent and this season buffs are going to make things worse....it's a really roundabout way to control the meta and that's the only reason for it I think...

100% All the other changes have been largely fine, but this one is a weird level of unnecessary FOMO. I’d also take bungie just limiting it to all seasonal activities that aren’t the raid.
-
I agree, but I am legitimately even more worried about the 15% DR on newly acquired armour; you just know the PvE elitists and streamers will use it, then demand the game is balanced around it, f***ing over everyone that doesn't because they have sets etc.
-
Yeah, I like a lot of the changes coming up like armor stats and weapon tiers, but I do NOT like a weapon being 10% more potent in all activities just because it's new. Make it a modifier for a seasonal playlist or something, but keep it out of everything else.

Its a small seasonal bonus. Particle Deconstruction and Breach and Clear/Weaken and Clear have already been doing this with much bigger bonuses. Chances are the people bothered by it already aren't doing the best damage they could.

Added to that, often seasonal weapons look hideous (just look at the current season or even last season) and it personally makes me less likely to run them. Fashion is the true endgame after all.
