1, (Re)Grinding - Think a big reason why many players don't enjoy grinding anymore is because the game loop has been very stale & predictable for years on end from a macro perspective - if the game doesn't considerably update itself on a semi-regular basis, people get bored/tired of the same old same old and move onto the new freshness somewhere else... 2, Serving the Audience/Quality of Content/Management - Reality is, Destiny doesn't cater it's audience, it has previously tried to extract the most from the least possible resources, relying on gimmicks and cheap burn content on average - seasons/episodes are at a very poor quality and the team isn't agile enough to shift development at a fast enough pace due to poor management, institutional bloat and a of lack of overarching vision. I like Tyson Green and think their vision for the game is what's been needed for a long time, If this can be executed and at a pace that can retain/grow players remains to be seen. 3, PR & Trust - As much as I like Destiny 2 for some things, Bungie has destroyed a significant part of their own fanbase. Goodwill and trust is sorely lacking, to the point many want to see Bungie fail due to the volume of their mistakes & perceived arrogance - Bungie is not a likeable company, as much as some might think this doesn't matter, it often has a large impact on overall game sales and marketing.

Basically everything about the direction the game was going in or appeared to be going in has already started going away or will be going away come EoF. It feels like all the things that made this the one live service game that I actually felt was worth playing is going away and it’s becoming just like all those other ones I have absolutely no interest in playing. Build crafting and experimentation was the reason to play, now it seems to be shifting to a cycle of “make number of up” which is just….boring. I don’t like seasonal reset style systems and now we’re going to see that for both power and gear. A cycle of “number go up” just for the sake of it is artificial and not compelling. I truly think crafting should have been balanced and expanded upon in meaningful ways that make it more rewarding instead of it being burned to the ground. The return to no meaningful bad luck protection or targeting agency for seasonal weapons that came with Revenant killed what I felt like was a mostly balanced loop of earning seasonal craftables to experiment with on demand while I chased non craftables. Losing that instilled a level of apathy in me that had me not finishing content that I paid for, for the first time ever. Now we’ll see that extended to armor as well come EoF. I don’t care about temporary destination gimmick abilities and would rather have seen that time and resources spent on permanent things for subs to continue to add to build crafting. Everything that is happening or will be happening(aside from armor drops being made interesting again) feels like a downgrade. The weapon side of build crafting accessibility has taken a major hit by walking back crafting, and that doesn’t appear to changing. We’re getting temporary destination abilities instead of new things for our classes. Gear is getting a reset cycle. Level is tied to gear tiers. A number go up cycle as “content.” It all feels uninspired, artificial, and not compelling at all.
