Gear tiers tied to leveling.
The average destiny player, which is probably 75% or more of your playerbase, will never see a tier 5 drop. This isn’t a good direction to go. You are alienating the majority of your player base. Oh see these shiny new guns with cool skins and upgraded perks? Too bad. You must be unemployed to earn it because instead of a skill requirement to get the best stuff, it’s simply just a time investment. Terrible call.

The worst part is if you’re mainly a PVP player now you have to sweat your -blam!- off in PVE for weapons with better stats. (Tier 5 weapons sound much harder to get than current Adepts)

Terrible call.[/quote] Yeah, your level should not impact the gear tier you get. It should just be the level of the content you do. And there’s nothing wrong with tier 5s not being owned by everyone.

The casual players who do next to nothing and those who can barely do anything don't make up the majority of the playerbase. It also isn't a time requirement, and 100% is a skill requirement. Bungie has even stated how all you have to do just to get tier 5 gear is just to play on the highest difficulty. We all know that those of you who do nothing but complain about how difficult the game is all the time will never get better gear and demand that you get it handed to you instead.

Is there much difference betweeb tier 3 and 5? Can the both shoot? Does tier 3 have a slower rate of fire? Does tier 5 shoot rockets and give you a magic shield or something. Tier 3 is fine for anyone who wants to play the game chill will be good enough. I am not a fan of bungie but they seem to want to add an end game for the sweats so I am ok with that aswell. I will use my tier 3 weapons and be fine :)

And with the stat and buffs to enhanced perks it will create a gap in power and function on the same gun or armor further dividing players anyone without T5 gear will be straight up weaker compared...a clear divide of have and have not..I can already see all the T5 or kick posts for LFG and clans

We need to be able to use shards and/or alloy to increase tier level on gear.

It’s hard to say for certain from what we have been shown, but I think leveling will be significantly easier than it has ever been: drops are multiple power higher than your power, can be farmed infinitely, and seemingly different activities focus different slots of gear. This essentially removes all of the RNG and time gating of power leveling, so while the total number you have to climb to is quite a bit higher than in the past, you gain power at a much much faster rate. Also, acquiring much of the best gear is already tied to you engaging with the power grind, at least to some extent. I’m not exactly sure how this is really different other than being more reasonable in essentially every way.

Now I get it bungie has been vary lack luster as of late but in my opinion this going to be a nice change and meaningful grind it’s more of a reward then just a adept drop for same investment.

But not everyone who displays skill isn't doing it genuinely. Cheaters would therefore get every weapon based on skill alone with no investment in time to the community.

6 RepliesWhy should you be able to obtain the highest tier of gear without needing to accomplish the highest tier activites? How about stop devaluing loot, and start learning to engage with those highest tier activites. This watered down loot economy is entirely made upon the request of casuals to be able to get the best loot without needing to play the highest tier activites.

They’re largely cosmetic and not needed for leveling. The vast majority of Destiny players will literally not notice the difference between a Tier 3 and a Tier 5. So yeah, leave a version for the crazy streamers to collect and flex. Tier 3 is more than enough
