The comparisons are so wildly contrasting.
One’s time gated to all hell, sucking the fun out of it - the other was very well paced.
One has desire-able loot for the following year, that’ll even get a sweet buff update once the next year starts - the other has gear that’s being made obsolete on day 1 of the next release.
One had tons of aspirational cosmetic and fun rewards on top of high end drops from the encounters original loot pool - the other a single item.
One seems to be a momentary forgettable experience - the other prepped you for the following expansion and left a memorable impression.
The concept for a Dungeon equivalent to Pantheon was an awesome idea, but it needs a lot more time in the oven to compete.

Because pantheon was a selection of boss fights. Not the whole raids. And it was released every week with another encounter and harder difficulty and modifiers. And new mechanics (double rhulk !) Making it a fun boss rush. Rite of the nine is just...do the whole dungeon in contest mode, includîg the tedious boring parts. As an example ghost of the deep without the 1st encounter and the dumb under water areas would have been liked. Just simmunah an echtar would have been enough. They could have added more dungeon fights into the mix.... Pit of heresy final boss, shattered throne vorgoth or final boss etc... All of it with contest/ updated mechanics. It should have been the EXACT same thing as pantheon, but with dungeon encounters... But nah...their plan was just 3 dungeons with 3 frikin weeks between each. Fun fun fun.
