Happy Men's Mental Health Awareness Month

To all the men out there holding on for dear life and packing down those raw unfiltered emotions just know that you're not alone. It isn't healthy to hold things in so do your due diligence and talk to someone you can trust and If not then find someone who'll listen. Your mental health is important so don't ignore it or you'll regret it.

 • As someone who was once a guy, I concur. Don’t be afraid to open up about y’all’s feelings, if you do ignore how you feel you’ll end up feeling like crap all the time and you’ll only spiral from there. Take care of yourselves <3
It isn't healthy to hold things in so do your due diligence and talk to someone you can trust and If not then find someone who'll listen.
Nice advice in theory, except people expect relationships (relationships referring to all types, such as friendships & familial, not just romantic) with men to be low maintenance, and will abandon you in a heartbeat for having the audacity to mention that you feel sad. Opening up is good, but be careful who you open up to. Too many folk change their tone right quick when a man starts having feelings. There was once a study where professional actors were paid to go into public places like restaurants and the like, sit at a table by themselves and cry. The women actors got a ton of people stopping by, asking if they were okay, and if there was anything they can do to help. The men were asked to leave because they were “making people uncomfortable”. Hooray for societal gender expectations! Ruining life for men & women everywhere! :D Edit: And to be clear, I am in support of men's mental health, I'm just pointing out that it's not that simple, and acting like it is can make a bad situation a whole lot worse. Something that, unfortunately, I have witnessed first hand on a couple different occasions. Finding a support network is important, but simply reaching out for help isn't as likely to work for men as it is for women, and the support networks that women can usually easily find/establish legitimately just do not exist for men, because reaching out for help often backfires.
