Bungie I think Edge of Fate is in dire need of more time in the oven.

It’s clear the changes to prismatic are unpopular. It’s clear the changes to armor are not universally loved, especially with the knowledge that everything we worked for will essentially be mediocre in the coming meta. Changing the names of stats and losing the flavor that makes this game such a rich experience at times is not going to bring in more new players. That’s not the part of the new player experience that’s a problem. I’m all for making stats increase for every single point of stat, but I’m not for wildly changing up stats after 10 years. I’ve got a build going. I don’t like playing the menu screen game, I’ve probably spent more than 100 hours of my playtime in menu screens build crafting and reading. Nearly every single time there has been community backlash against a choice you’re thinking of making, you have ended up walking back that decision because it ended up being unpopular and people left. You’re already hemorrhaging players, and you’re not going to get many of those players back when you tell them “hey remember that really unpopular thing we did that ruined the game for you for like a year (being remarkably generous here) even after the entire community told us no we don’t want that? Well good news for you, we reverted our original decision! Look at us, how we listen to our community.” How about for once. For ONCE. You actually listen BEFORE you make a bad decision. The feedback is LOUD and CLEAR. We do not like that armor 3.0 and the new weapon tier system invalidates our previous grind. We do not like that prismatic is being nerfed. We do not like everything you are doing to stats. We’ve shown that we are more than willing to wait if it means a better product in the end, do you even have a conception of how much communal goodwill you stand to gain if you decide to listen?? Edge of Fate is a good name for this expansion Bungie, because I believe it is where your company currently stands. I think if you go through with the many unpopular changes you have suggested, this may very well be the harbinger of your doom, because I doubt it will be very long for you if edge flops. Let me be clear in saying I do not wish for bungie to fail, but I do not want them to be rewarded for ignoring the community yet again.

Mobility, intellect and strength are dump stats on warlock and titans most of the time. 90% of warlock and titan builds use 3 stats. Hunter use 3 aswell most of the time, as strength is redundant on them. Having two stats be actually useless on 2/3 of the classes makes so much sense eh? Such a rich experience. Just sounds like you don’t actually understand the changes coming.

  • This is their only way forward. Corporate won’t let them “over-deliver”, so all they can do is recycle. The budget goes to Eververse, failed projects, and corporate bonuses. Streamers are their focus since they help sell copies, so they build the game around them and then pay for reviews. See all those streamers that just got a free trip to Seattle and then got paid to tell us how great the new content is? Aztecross had to smile and tell us these changes are the equivalent of a new version of the game, but outside of being a ball of energy and a seasonal location only launchable as an activity, we’re right back to grinding the same content. This is all that’s going to come out of Bungie from now on- seasonal buffs and recycled gear. Maximum grind for minimal effort. At least the corpos will get their big payouts and bail next year.

    • Simple thought. If they make it more difficult to have fun when you play this game then less people will be willing to play the game.....because it's not fun. I don't know if the changes will be fun or not but so far it does not sound or look like it but I'm remaining cautiously optimistic despite being really annoyed they are effing with my builds I've worked so hard to put together. If I can make new ones that are fun great. If I can't because the nerf hammer hits too hard....I just won't play.

I agree with almost everything you’ve said. Except for the fact that you do not wish them to fail. If they go through with these changes to the grind, weapons and armour they fully deserve the fate that awaits them. I think Bungie are creatively bankrupt. We can get into the reasons why but quite frankly I don’t care anymore about “why”. I am not spending all my time in ultimatum activities to get weapons and armor that are going to net an extra 10-15% damage or damage resistance for 6 months and then start all over again in renegades. Those that can spot the patterns absolutely know this is an all new gilded hamster wheel of a grind. And I’m not participating. They aren’t refreshing any raid content with this so only new stuff will drop from the new raid. If it’s anything like Salvation’s Edge or Root of Nightmares then they can stick the new raid where the sun doesn’t shine. Root is too easy and SE is too complex and time consuming. But this company has no idea what a happy medium is or how to get new players actively involved in endgame activities. Which is why the more casual player-base has left in droves. I’m going to wait and see. I doubt Bungie are going to change their mind, or delay this DLC. They’ve yet again listened to the wrong people about the direction of the game imho. Quite frankly I’d like to see Bungie get dismantled by Sony and only keep those that are competent. Then see if DE will work with Sony and the remaining members of Bungie to fix this franchise. At least DE listen to their community and Warframe is the better for it.

      • Kudos for your comment!! Bungie needs to listen for a change but it seems that they are incapable of that.

      • So let me get this straight. They want to increase the grind even more not only do I have to grind armor again but it has to be the same set to get a bonus. Good luck with that, RNG just absolutely does not respect your time. No crafting, nerf to prismatic. Bungie just doesn't get us we want to have fun not play as a job. Just forget it man Bungie did this for streamers to have more content to make videosout of. They don't care about the players. They invite streamers to play early not you.

      • Bungie is stuck in a loop with D2 as the only thing the game rewards is having more powerful builds for the sake of power, through grinding activities for gear. Thats why we have regular power reset and gear being depreciated. Once a significant portion of the player base have the good gear and reached power level, then where do you go from there? You are as powerful as the game allow, the only way to keep the power chase running is to constantly shift the sandbox by making old stuff sucks and new stuff “a bit too hot”. So, as a player no matter how good the game feel to you now, because you invested on your build and collected some great gear, this experience is by design fleeting, or people would loose interest in grinding. I really wish Bungie would diversify the way to make the game rewarding, as this “monoculture” of gameplay is not sustainable. I’d love if they put more effort on diversifying the experience, like a TESO for instance.

      • I am leaving D2 at the end of the episode unless we get some major positive news. We told Bungie power levels didn’t feel meaningful. So instead of allowing over levelling, or giving us a feeling of strength, we have been told we will have to grind power every 3 months and every 6 months we lose the items we use to upgrade armour…. No thank you. It has been an amazing journey, I have played and enjoyed even the least exciting seasons but I would rather end on a huge high than continue through these changes.

      • OP: ✅ All the new proposed bells and whistles for EoF will be applied to the current circus clown car with its wheezes and bangs, and bits falling off at every turn. 🤡 P2P / Lag / Latency / spaghetti code / crumbling game architecture / glitches and bugs up the wazoo / etc….etc… So, what’s new? 🧐 Nothing much! Just more of the same sour old vinegary wine in shiny new bottles - with a short but renewable shelf life. 🤖 Edge of Failure seems more appropriate! 🤔 That is all. Note to Self: Ease Springs! 🙄

Don't worry because all the insane hamster wheel players are going to be doing edge of fate for Armor and Weapons that will be scratch/reverted back to square one when Renegade comes out 😑 I really don't understand Bungies way of thinking 🤷‍♂️

      • The story might be good but it will be easy to view that for free. Instead of continuing to facilitate build crafting through keeping meaningful bad luck protection and targeting agency by balancing and expanding upon crafting, continuing the trend of adding new aspects, abilities, supers, etc…they have instead decided to address apathy and burnout with MORE grind in the most artificial and least compelling ways imaginable that do not facilitate build crafting. EoF is a pass and it wasn’t even a tough decision.

          • I don't think they can afford to give it more time, but a price discount would probably help with the bad taste it's leaving behind.

          • Thing I don't understand is everyone keeps going on about D3...you would lose everything anyways and regrind and the system would be different...so...it's better this way kinda we get all the new stuff and lose less...only down side is you can't replay older content...I guess it's true we will own nothing and be happy...we will see how long that lasts...
