I just posted the first chapter. It's a work in progress.

I don’t have time to read atm, but that’s a fun name. Personally, I think “Part Time Legend” sounds better than “Part Time Hero”. Assuming you’re going for a fantasy feel, “Part Time Hero” implies to me a modern superhero type deal, while Legend definitely implies swords & magic & junk.

Edited by purplespider1976: 6/6/2025 10:28:10 PMCoffee, I just finished reading the chapter. (Yes, I'm a quick reader. Practice, a lot of practice! 😋) I really like where you seem to be headed. There are already a few characters I think you'll be carrying forward as things progress. I can feel notes of their personalities developing and potential paths to events in the story. Very nice! I'm going to drop the next thought in a spoiler so others can read the chapter and then come back if they want to.
I immediately got Thomas Covenant vibes. A character dropped into a situation they have no experience or reference point in. You're heading in a more exotic direction, I think, in terms of characters. I like it. I think this will be great read. If you haven't read any of the Thomas Covenant series, I'd recommend them. They're in a slightly different tone and style to most modern writing styles, but not a challenging read. Good light fun.
I know the title isn't what you wanted, but I do think this may fit better. It will depend too on where your plot lines take things.

I'll read it later. I'm still at work. I agree with Aifos, though. "Legend" puts the right connotations and imagery for what you're writing. "Hero" makes me think of blue tights and red capes. It could be my age talking too. 🤷♀️
