How is Edge of Fate going to handle the adept and craftable raid weapons currently in my vault? Will they be trash?
Tbh, I don't care too muchabout the Nightfalls adepts, I'll re-run those and only be slightly annoyed. My big issue is my trials adepts. I struggle at trials so the ones I have were a nightmare to acquire and I want to keep them until the day the servers are shutdown.
What about these RotN weapons we're grinding for right now? Are those going to be trash in a month too? Is it pointless to even be running RotN?
I play a looter-shooter to be a loot hoarder chasing the best weapons possible and that's why my vault is constantly at 699/700. Be careful what loot you nuke Bungie....that could be a dealbreaker for a lot of us. I quit for 2 years when you sunset my Not Forgotten just a few months after I finally earned it.
-
If you chased only the best you wouldn’t have a full vault. You’re a hoarder, you play a SHOOTER just to HOARD. So why would Bungie not think you wouldn’t drool at the chance to grind endlessly? You all made them think they could drop this crap on us and people would eat it up. Cause that’s what you’ve been doing. Grinding endlessly for incrementally better gear.

Am I the only one thinking that since they are changing basically everything, this would have been the perfect opportunity to close off Destiny 2 and launch the new stuff as Destiny 2.5 or 3? Those who like the existing system would still have it while those who wanted the new changes could jump onboard for that.

All Bungie need to do is allow all legendary weapons to be enhanceable and allow us to progress a weapon through these tiers using glimmer/cores/prisms as we do today. Then they can allocate all of our weapons into tiers at launch and we can take what we have up to tier 5. This could apply to our crafting patterns also so we could have enhanced barrels and magazines. Just think about all the grinding guardians have gone through to unlock weapon patterns, if these weapons become redundant then that will be an absolute disgrace.

I am a bit less concerned with my weapons, but more for my armor that I have spent years collecting to get the stat splits that I wanted. Now, its basically starting over (until we see what the old armor is like in the new system). Since they are getting rid of resilience and recovery, are all of my high stat armors in those stat splits going to even be usable? Are exotics going to be needed to be farmed again to get stats where we want in the new system? My vault is constantly at 699 as well, and honestly, it makes me want to farm gear less. Because it means that I need to delete things that either are a good weapon/armor, or ones that I hold for a memento from the era which they were earned. I feel that this reset may be enough to push me out of the game. I spent years grinding to get what I have, and now its basically a reset of everything... Why not a new game instead???!!! Just leave this as it was after the wrap up of the light/dark saga, and move the new system to a new game. I still want to play things in the old system, with my old builds and armor. Weapons for the most part, I think can be more easily substituted unless you need a very specific roll for synergy of a build. I got rid of so many of my favorite weapons after sunsetting, and we have already had a couple powercreep cycles with introduction of origin traits, then enhancement... that most of those old weapons are more or less obsolete (not best in slot tool for the task). The current adept loot, I expect will still be usable and good. Probably slot in around tier 3-4.

Old gear will all still be good, it will likely take longer than a year to replace all of the best pieces of gear in our kit given how many niche pieces we have collected. Tier 5 gear isn’t like 2x as good as your current gear, and it’s certainly not replacing your staples like Hezen Vengeance unless they just make even more ridiculous perks (which is unrelated to the new gear or tiering system and could’ve happened with the current system). This is also not mentioning the fact that you need to go through the entire level grind using gear that is Tier 1-3 it seems. If current gear is ~Tier 3, then you already have some of the highest tier gear for at least the first few weeks or months of the expansion. Not to mention Tier 5 gear seems to require you to actually do difficult content, which many players will not have the willpower or skill to complete and so many players will settle for Tier 3 or 4 gear, which is, again, comparable to current gear. Mainly my only concern is with the +15% damage and DR new gear gets from the artifact every season but they will likely reduce it or limit where it applies significantly either before launch or shortly after given the feedback people have about it. Even if they don’t, I am so certain they will tune this back eventually that I wouldn’t even consider just deleting all my current gear unless I get something that is strictly better perks wise. I think being encouraged to try new gear can be exciting, but this is a bit too pushy of a way to do it. If you want stuff that is in the game right now, get it. It will likely still be viable for a decent enough amount of time for it to be worth it. If you don’t want to grind right now, then don’t. There are always alternatives and new shinier things on the horizon: that’s been true for this entire game’s existence and the tiering system doesn’t really change that much at all.

Adepts are being sunset out of existence and won't be farmable after edge of fate

Edited by neonsox42: 6/7/2025 5:26:03 PMWeapons? Not really. A fully kitted out legendary right now is around a tier 3 in EoF. The only differences between Tier 3 and Tier 5 are: - Enhanced Barrels (likely around 2-3 points higher than current) - Enhanced Origin Trait - Enhanced versions of the seasonal weapon mods. I wouldn’t worry as much about grinding adepts, but keep going for weapons. Plus it’s going to take a while for Bungie to introduce a new weapon of better quality in each weapon element/archetype The “New Weapon” bonus I think is much more like sunsetting, but hopefully we can convince Bungie to walk it back…
-
Basically people are overreacting (ground breaking I know). But adepts didn't "sunset" non adepts either.
-
Yes. It’s the new kind of Sunsetting for the next era of Destiny where you can still use it, but you’d be foolish to use it with the new tier 5’s in the sandbox. Similar to when they said they were going away from the seasonal model and then we got episodes - this isn’t sunsetting 😉
-
Yeah this is a serious concern. If there’s not a system to upgrade existing weapons to tier 5, I’m done.

look at utility of weapons, just keep a chill clip rocket sidearm lol

Sunsetting 2.0? Have you all forgotten that this is the third time in the franchise that this happened?
-
Yes & yes.

absolutely pointless, at the end of the day, when the game is trash and has nothing to play for, what's the point of even grinding and min maxxing your character? I'll just hit the gym in real life to min max myself.
-
He’s just saying what we’re all thinking. More nerfs incoming.
-
Unless they've changed their intentions since the dev insights, T5 weapons are supposed to be on par with current adept weapons.
-
adepts are trash now, only double perks guns are good
-
Not trash and not pointless. BUT there will be more powerful weapons available. The only advantage a tier 4/5 has over current weapons are enhanced barrels, magazines and mods. Yes that sounds significant but I’m actually gameplay is probably minimal.
-
Weapons from last season (final shape with access pass weapons) will be safe. But I am not sure those weapons even raids weapon (even craft weapons) will be in 5 tier (3rd tier we have for now) I hope bungie make clear if old weapons can to be 5 tier, if so then which one. Useless weapon without no stats increases is strong possibility that I will delete it and easy enough for me clean up vault space.
-
Rotn farming would be pointless even if they werent sunsetting stuff. The only gun worth actually farming is a sudden death. Prefiring everyone typing up some nonsense about why judgment with rimestealer and headstone was the last missing piece for their vanguard ops and patrol build please spare me.

not trash, but not the ebst option
