DIM fails to refresh for minutes, along with taking multiple attempts to transfer weapons. I’m assuming it’s on Bungies end. Thoughts?
-
I think anything using the D2 API is laggy, probably bungie throttling the servers.
-
Between DIM, Ishtar, and the whole weekend of constant "Contacting Destiny 2 servers" I think the game is finally collapsing. I would say hopefully Tuesday they will fix it, but new content is coming out which means the servers will be dead for 2 days with bugs, glitches, and inconsistency.
-
Same. As mentioned in other replies, Bungie is limiting DIM requests as well as API calls from other apps as well. There is a noticeable problem with this over the last 4 or 5 days, but it's 100% on Bungie to address it.

Edited by TheIMuffinlMan: 5/5/2025 2:44:04 AMI don’t use DIM but I use Ishtar and it’s having problems. So I assume a 3rd party is throttling the serves to crash them, my take.
-
Its been getting worse for years now. It's bungos fault, to lower server load they keep turning down the frequency of allowed API requests which leaves DIM stuck with old data.
-
It does. But everyone be sure and give your money to Marathon and all pre-orders...(Sarcasm at its finest)....
-
Edited by Oogyman: 5/5/2025 10:53:59 AMIt definitely is. Bungie really feels like its actually falling apart.
-
DIM is tied to the API. The API has been acting funny, same with Bungie.net itself, as well as the companion app.
-
All the inventory apps seem to be acting strange for a while now. Little light will lag or not know where guns are far more often than it used to

Edited by cryptic_king_241: 5/4/2025 4:27:22 PMIt's the d2 app for me, says heavy traffic. Edit: It's now also going with my "lack" of progress on guardian ranks. I'm rank f:*&ing 11 bungie!
-
I'm wondering if it may be connected to the same issues this forum is having.
-
It's any app that pulls from destiny, either throttling infrastructure or testing marathon behind the scenes. Or possibly working on a way to block 3rd party apps so they can charge for access?
-
The throttling of DIM and issues with the forum are 100% down to whatever Bungie is doing with it's infrastructure. Took 7 attempts to reply to a chat post yesterday, just as well I had the foresight to copy the text so I didn't have to retype the bloody thing.
-
It is unusable these days imo, no fault of the developers of the website I just think they are limited by the ability to quickly pull data from the API. I usually just put all my guns in the vault whenever I switch characters
-
Yeah the whole thing is borked rn.
-
The app is working as intended. In fact if the APP is "laggy", it's your system. The destiny API is the problem. It is definitely causing a lot of issues bungie needs to address. If they start cutting Destiny 2 server resources for marathon I won't be sticking around after the next expansion.
-
It’s been pretty bad lately. I’ve gotten messages that mentioned Bungie.net issues and messages that said Bungie was limiting DIM commands.
-
The API has been taking a dump it seems like basically since they started the Marathon alphas. Don’t know if it’s related— but as a marker of time. The official app has been performing terribly too.
-
I got a message on DIM advising Bungie was limiting requests to the API. trying to post this and Bungie is either high or drunk There's a lot of requests coming into the game server right now! It told us to chill out for a minute instead of giving us useful data, so we're all going to be little Fonzies and be cool until the game server recovers.
-
The entire game is a giant bug and lag. Bungie still uses p2p connections and the "server" they use to connect us is probably the same windows 97 that ran the halo servers. They invested money in cars and a new game that looks like doom from the 80s with graphics smoothing.

The companion app is extremely laggy on iphone, but I thought it was just me so I didn’t bother with it -
I'm absolutely convinced it's because marathon alpha is live. Everything runs through or is linked to, budgie.net, it's why everything goes down during maintenance. I've noticed lots of in-game delay too, very miniscule but noticeable, since the alpha went live. I'm not saying they're exactly linked as such but maybe server space has been made smaller for destiny & 3rd party stuff to give marathon servers more stability. Remember the alpha is north America only, so likely running direct from bungie.
-
They must have given out another Marathon Alpha code, It should settle down in 2 days once the Alpha is done.
-
It's probably not related but still funny, I got an internal error message when tried to read your post. 😅

D2 = 🤨🤔 (hmmmm) - 5/8/2025 1:33:57 AM
yes its a bit buggier/laggy for me (PC) but still works and I still think its reliable (but yes worrisome along with the site/forum issues)
