I think Destiny is the last game that keeps me shackled to Windows. I also heard that the anti-cheat Bungie uses is now compatible with Proton. Could Destiny on Linux happen anytime soon?

Destiny 2 is the only game I play that requires Windows. If I ever get bored of Destiny and make the full time switch to Linux I'm never coming back. There's no "on ramp" for D2 on linux, and installing a new Windows operating system comes with too much friction I'm surprised tbh. With the dev time being put into Marathon, and both games sharing the same engine, they're not making both games Linux compatible. So now Bungie are between a rock and a hard place. Support D2 on the most popular PC handheld, or let D2 Rising take that marketshare. Good luck with that. Maybe we should crowdfund a new car for PP so we can finally get off Windows and onto Steamdeck/Linux

Bungie has been clear, they have no desire to support linux. Only one of the anticheats works with proton, their in house ac does not. Also, if there were ever going to be a time for thme to do it, it would have been before they reduced staffing to their current levels. The increase in dev and support team needed for yet aother platform most likely isnt finanicially available at this time. Especially when you factor in the amount of NEW sales would be most likely small and that the linux gaming sector is super small, which I know is kind of a catch 22. No one games on Linux because games dont work on linux, game devs dont support linux, because no one games on linux....
