Bungie going solo killed the game

Despite what anyone says, the sunsetting, not so heavy MMO beats are the way for Destiny. Been here since Jan 2015 and this is the worst I’ve ever seen the franchise. Back when people were saying it was dead there was a passion in those who stayed that I’m not seeing now. Forsaken, the Taken King, Rise of Iron and House of Wolves were the pinnacle Destiny experiences. I will see this to the end but it does sadden me to see the franchise like it is.

  • I didn't know Destiny back in the Activision days. Over the last couple of years of what has been coming out about Activision... that might be a good thing. I started playing in late 2020. I started off with Forsaken & the Tangled Shore. 2-3 months later, the Witch Queen dropped and you could imagine my surprise when content for Forsaken & the Tangled Shore just vanished from the directory. All of a sudden, I couldn't increase the level of my weapons and I had no idea why. Didn't know what a TWAB was or anything like that so I didn't know that sunsetting was a thing until it happened. As a new player that was very frustrating. 4-5 years later, I can see the value in sunsetting old weapons with the exception of destinations. To combat weapon fatigue I emptied my vault before Final Shape and only kept a handful of weapons so I was forced to play with new gear and that made the experience so much better for me. We have options so thats a good thing. Here's another unpopular take... I think the Nine should nuke the Enclave. Weapon Crafting was bad for RNG. Problem is so many people like weapon crafting and now that it exists, you can't just take it away. The fact that you can't craft current season weapons gives me hope that we are moving in the right direction back to good ole fashion RNG. Nothing like grinding an activity to get that special roll. Heck I'm still grinding Court of Blades trying to get better rolls on adepts. The rarity makes it special. Right now I could name a ton of RNG weapons over the years that I have worked for versus weapons I have crafted. Maybe it's just me, but I never made that connection with crafted weapons. If Hersey weapons were craftable, I would collect the patterns and stop playing the activity simple as that. Nuke the Enclave! Not blowing smoke, but I think it's unfair to say Bungie is doing a bad job with Destiny. Sometimes I feel like they listen a little too much to the community. Not all community suggestions are good suggestions. Sure they could improve on comms but I think they are doing the best that they can given the circumstances. Let's at least see what they have cooked up for Edge of Fate before. I hope they share more information on their multi-year roadmap.

  • WQ and FS were awesome DLCs. I still have fun playing too. Looking forward to the new DLCs and the new armor system.

      • yeah the focus on casual really ruined the game, i hope they add crafting back while adding a REAL worth grind for end game content, adepts are trash and useless

        • Lmao why do you think Activision dumped Bungie? They got tired of having to pull other studios in to help Bungie actually have a release. Bungie has always been the problem.

Far as I'm concerned, the final shape was the end. We beat the darkness, the campaign was pretty good, the location was cool, and the raid was solid if overtuned for the average raider. I'd have been more happy if they called it there.

          • I remember the excitement of Bungie leaving Activision. So much hope that with Bungie controlling their own “Destiny”, we would see the game unshackled from the yearly release cycle, and the time to innovate and create fun things for us… Fast forward to now… and all we have is Delayed content, less quality, riddled with bugs, derivative, rehashed, all at a higher price point. This is on top having the worst micro-transaction/monetization in the industry. Simply put, in 2025 we are expected to pay more for much less. It’s sad really.

            • House of wolves was the most fun I’ve ever had across destiny 1 or 2! Mostly because back then I was a PvP main, actually hated the taken king PvP changes, but taken king is where the PvE side of me really started to dig into destiny. I think Bungie and destiny would have been much better off if they’d stayed with activision and just fought their tails off to not have to put out a game every two years. I think activision would have gone along with it if they’d of pitched it to them with real passion, conviction and a clear picture for the future. I think activision would have still wanted sequels but I think they would have allowed bungie to maybe fit what we have into 3 games instead of 2 and then I think the fourth would be in development right now and coming this year or next maybe. Idk, we’ll never know. It could all just be down to management and no matter what publisher/studio/corp they were working with we might of ended up here either way.

You realize Bungie isn't solo right They have been under the incompetent and out of touch guidance of the geniuses at Sony since 2022
