Solo Player Playing With Friends

I have, for about 99.999% of this game, ran solo. And I have enjoyed the vast majority of it. Recently, I reconnected with an old friend & started playing in a group. The difference is night & day. Helping each other thru different campaigns & adventures has illuminated me as to how easy/hard the game is depending on what's being played. Campaign stuff became a cake walk. Stuff that would take me 25-30 minutes was getting busted in 10.. And the craic is unlimited. Loads of laughs when the NF wipes or we ruck each other with grenades near exploder enemies. I'll always be that lone Hunter in my heart, but good Xol.. wiping with a team is way more fun that getting slapped as a solo. It's almost a different game. I'll still indulge my solo wandering but I'm more likely to call on folks for the craic & banter, not jus to get stuff done. Beers & Sav... 🫡 If ya can.. find some folks. It's such a difference.

I'd love to play with other people but there are two main problems. For a couple of days every week I'm going to be completely MIA, due to work. Makes it tough to keep up and run things together - because when I finally have time to play - four days later - they've probably played through things already. The second issue is that Destiny has seemingly gone out of its way to make people not organically connect. It took about a week to filll up a friendlist in the Halo games - because everyone was shooting the -blam!- and used mics. I've literally never heard anyone use a mic in Destiny - and I'm not putting that on the players, I pin it on Bungie for not bringing those tools to the game from start or encouraging it. Hell, you can barely get a text chat reply in this game, with how programmed players have been to just sticking to themselves. And sure, you can go off-game to look for friends but at that point you really have to want it, you never know who you end up with and it's basically online dating for lonely people The point should be to encounter other players in-game, realize that you share a vibe and connect.
