I Don't Want To Use Radiant Dance Machines, Bungie!

As a longtime Hunter main, I’m genuinely frustrated that I’m being funneled into using Radiant Dance Machines just to keep up. Not because I want to, but because the current sandbox makes every other option feel like I’m throwing. Let’s be honest: the illusion of build diversity has never felt more fragile. On paper, Destiny offers a wide range of exotic armor pieces and subclass combinations. In practice, if you're engaging with endgame content or anything remotely competitive, the viable options collapse into a narrow, suffocating meta. Radiant Dance Machines aren't just strong—they're disproportionately effective. Better uptime, better synergy, better results. And that leaves little room for anything else. This isn’t just a balance issue—it’s a pattern. Bungie has a long tradition of overcorrecting, swinging too hard in one direction and leaving the sandbox skewed for months at a time. This is just the latest example. And in a game that already has a low skill ceiling, the lack of mechanical depth combined with lopsided tuning means success often hinges less on individual mastery and more on simply equipping the current golden loadout. That’s not gameplay. That’s compliance. I want to play my class. I want to run builds that feel true to how I like to play. I don’t want to be punished for not checking the same boxes as everyone else. But right now, if you’re not using Radiant Dance Machines, you're not optimizing—you’re actively handicapping your fireteam. So here’s the ask: deactivate Radiant Dance Machines until a meaningful rework can bring them in line. This isn't about nerfing fun—it's about creating space for actual choice, for real identity in how we play. Because right now, it's not a sandbox. It's a script. And I’m tired of playing the same role over and over again.

  • Could be worse. Warlocks have 2 PVP exotics: Transversive Steps and Nerfed Ophidian Aspects. That’s it.

  • I’m going to assume you’re talking about PvP because radiant dance machines are not that strong that you’re throwing in endgame content if it’s not glued to the hunter.

  • Better idea: change them... Ready reload speed increased for primary weapons. Airborne effectiveness increased while firing from the hip. Precision kills in PVP grant an instant charge. Non-precision kills no longer grant a full charge, instead reducing to granting 1/3 charge.

  • OP: good post! I do get where you’re coming from…even if many might struggle with the concept! 😂 When I play PvP H, I usually stick with the arc / shinobi mitts / and the big arc spear…when bounties or triumphs call for void - it’s usually spectral blades…and occasionally I’ll go tarzipan mode and get swinging on strand, though I still can’t figure out that super!? 😵‍💫 I gave rdm/tlw a few runs - and it was a bit of a hoot! But whatever class / element I play, my long-held 0.3% status keeps me in Div. IV - and I’m okay with dat! 😎 I’m more of a pulse or scout / sidearm old tortoise…I like to have a bit of fun when I play, and am not so bothered whether I W or L or D… It’s a game, after all. 👻 That is all. Ease Springs! 🫡

  • Really, I'm not even gonna finish reading it. All i saw was i don't want to keep using the same build. You aren't forced into using them. I, too, got tired of using them and went back to using my normal exotic for void. I also made my solar pvp build, and it's fun seeing players be reminded about scorching and explosions. All you have to do is find a different build that fits your style of game play. Learn to counter the meta. I know i suck at pvp, but when I make a different build that ends up forcing the other team to switch up their weapons, I know I'm doing something right, and it's making me win

  • Maybe you should. I don’t see the point of whining and screaming for nerf every single time they do something that does not advantage your favoured way of playing. And yes, I did try RDM and LW for a week now, out of curiosity. And while it’s a tone of fun to play, it hasn’t double my stats either. It’s a closer range, high mobility build since LW has short effective range for an HC. It’s what many people tired of the “firing lane pulse meta” have been asking for. Except since you don’t need to ads and have better mobility, HC/ Shotgun butt sliders can’t just ran at you while you stand still like a traffics cone. So it’s a little bit harder to run that combo. On a solar hunter I haven’t seen anything broken about it, the dodge refund would take multiple kills, and the radiant window is relatively short, and the buff modest, that it’s hard to abuse. I definitely see the problem on Void Hunter though. Point is, try it for yourself for a little while first and make your own opinion, there’s also so much lag and cheaters that a lot of build seem OP when they are not.

Then don't, you potato. I'm a hunter main who went flawless with a bit of a struggle yes, but didn't succumb. I used Igneous, Aisha's, and a Redrix... But no RDM/LW. I choose not to. And I don't make excuses for bad behavior, as it were. And I'm not even good lol. I also went flawless last weekend on my Titan, my Warlock the time before. So any Hunter haters claiming crutches can get rekt.

  • I don't have RDM, but even if I did, I wouldn't be able to use them. I crutch Knucklehead. If I try to use something other than Knucklehead, I just feel naked, and my anxiety goes through the roof.

      • Stompies are still ok. This trials map is really hard to play and radar is really necessary to not get surrounded so I have been trying Gemini on void hunter to cause maximum confusion I use it with persistence to stay invis longer.

        • You’ve got options. The exotic class items Wormhusk Knuckleheads Mask of bakris Balance of power Speedloader slacks (seriously they’re not bad) You just need to readjust yourself. Take them into rumble first and see how they feel just on a dueling basis.

        • So don't. I use Prismatic and the class item. And yeah, it sucks knowing you're slightly disadvantaged, but also keep in mind that a lot of the people who watch these YT videos and copy their favorite creators loadout still can't shoot straight lol.
