Seasonal content needs to be permanent and I think I have the solution:

As the title says a major issue I find with Destiny is the seasonal content and fomo surrounding it leaving when a new expansion drops, similar to how everything from the red war up to forsaken is gone this makes Destiny 2 a pain for new or returning players to get into. Yes I know that you can always look up past story but just because you can don’t mean you should. Players should have the ability to play any bit of content they want at any given time especially when you have a case of a lack luster season. Now I know bungie does this to keep the game’s size down but I think there’s a way for everything to be available. I admit it might take a lot of time and resources and I could be wrong about implementing it but hear me out at least, especially you bungie devs if you’re reading this. Similar to how Halo MCC works. You take each expansion and its seasons (for year 1 we can count Curse of Osiris and Warmind) and when you load up Destiny you can choose which ones you want installed, you can have as many installed as you want and can choose to uninstall or reinstall them at any time. For new players there could be an optional feature where it requires you to complete them in order so the story is easier to follow. This would really help with padding the content for the game especially during content drought between expansion. Now I know there are some issues regarding splitting up the community but I don’t think that’s too big an issues. As things like legacy raids, nightfalls, other endgame content as well as PvP and Gambit would all be in the games base files. This could also work for the seasons passes where you bring the old ones back and depending on which expansions you have installed you can toggle between them so any xp you earn goes towards that pass. Maybe even make a season pass for year 1 and forsaken. I understand this is a lot to ask but bungie here’s an incentive: you can resell the season passes. For new and old players who have missed previous seasons they can buy the seasons they missed (I however would not recommend charging players who had already purchased them)

  • The issue isn’t just memory on our end, it’s the game having to run that old content as well. Server side everything would still be included, which as we saw in the Shadowkeep era slowly devolved into even more buggy messes due to that old code clashing with new code in entirely unexpected ways. I do hope this new approach in Frontier does manage to make a nice evergreen type approach, start making the ‘seasonal releases’ that are now just free updates with the smaller expansions focus on the core game modes.
