He doesn’t usually wonder this far up in the tower but he made a special delivery..just for you.” Banshee dusted off the box and slowly pushed it across the table towards the Guardian. The Guardian ripped the cardboard box open and inside revealed a shimmery white rectangular slab, the length of their forearm. It sat on top of a dull green metal case. The Guardian picked up the small slab and at first glance it offered no clues as to what it was. The Guardian held it with both hands and tilted it side to side, to analyze it from all angles. Slowly, bright teal light began to etch into one of the broadsides. Three symbols of ‘The Nine’ appeared and one of butt ends of the slab vanished away. A stream of gold glitter and a single card slid out that read: “From your humble Xur & the Eternal Starhorse, The Nine offer, the gift is given, you are the receiver..” The Guardian looked at Ghost and Banshee unsure by Xurs obvious but equally confusing statement. “Right..Xur has a way of twisting his words, ”Ghost said offering his opinion. Banshee chirped in, “Sure does..” as he continued dismantling a malfunctioning Pulse Rifle a hunter had dropped off earlier that morning. “Now what’s in the case?” Banshee said impatiently as he waited for the reveal. The Guardian and Ghost turned their attention to the green case which looked to have seen a fair amount of use but at the same time, it had been maintained to pristine condition. The decal on the case had an image of a majestic silver bird that held a trio of arrow in one talon and a lightning bolt in the other. They unhinged the clips and lifted the lid. Inside the case lay a black and gray Auto Rifle. It lay dismantled in different sections of foam, along with various attachments. The Guardian careful assembled the necessary pieces and realized that the weapon was fairly oversized. The Guardian hefted the weapon and felt satisfied by the weight of it. It felt powerful and that it could be utilized in a variety of gunfights. They spun around to show Banshee who began to hmm to himself. “Oversized..Same insignia..just like Forerunner..” He continued, “I wondered if anything else like Forerunner would show up. Whoever wielded Forerunner, I reckon had this in their arsenal as well,” Banshee said out loud. “How does it feel?” Ghost asked. “It feels good,” the Guardian said. “I wonder how it shoots,” Ghost said curiously. “Why don’t we go find out?” Banshee retorted. “Where?” Ghost asked, puzzled by the Gunsmiths statement. “Follow me,” Banshee said. Banshee lead them through the back room in his workshop. He flicked on a light and hit a switch. A shelf on the back wall slid over and revealed a flight of stairs that lead down 2 levels. “This way,” Banshee instructed. The Guardian and Ghost followed Banshee down the flight of stairs. At the bottom of the stairs, they went through a doorway and entered a very large and narrow room. Banshee hit a series of switches and rows of flood lights flickered on. The flood lights reveals a large bench that stretched across 6 sectioned rows. Banshee then stood at a monitor, turned it on and started a simulation. At the end of each row, 6 holographic enemies scrambled to life. “Woah,” Ghost said in amazement. “A firing range?” “Yeah, makes sense right? I figured you Guardians could use a place to test out your weapons. Seems to have been an ask for a while now..the Vanguard finally signed off on it. Now, you can get new weapons, get old ones fixed and finally, tested..all in one place.” The Gunsmith said proudly as he initiated the firing simulation. Several bullet proof sheets along the length of the walls shifted and realigned themselves around the room. The Guardian readied the oversized weapon and said, “Let’s see what it can do.”
