Swords Should OHK Minors and Some Majors At Any Difficulty

Disregarding the dozens of other buffs and changes heavy Swords need (as a whole and individually), at the very least they should be able to kill minors and weaker elite enemies in a single swing [with no damage bonuses active] at the highest difficulties. Nearly every special weapon archetype now has this capability, and with the amount of risk involved in using a Sword (baring a couple specific loadouts), it doesn't make sense that in high level content, minors take 2 swings, while weaker majors/elites take 3.

  • Kinda wish they would move them all into the special slot. Not enough bosses encourage you to use them to keep them in the heavy slot.

  • They need an ammo buff ,damage buff and block/charge buff all round Lament needs to be un nerfed since the brain dead devs decided nerfing the one sword in the game thats made for champions was a good idea.

  • Swords need a buff period especially because legend of acrius does close range burst dmg so much better. They were supposed to be a high risk high reward play style but they got nerfed so bad there’s no point running them. Lament and vortex frames are the only ones that do somewhat decent dmg but after lament got an head scratch of a nerf it fell out of play.

  • Swords have been in a bad spot ever since Bungie adopted the mentality that close range damage shouldn’t be optimal/sustainable. Unless you’re using strongholds, you just get stomped to death by bosses and the damage is either not substantial or requires to much to get the most out of it. As for add clear, it feels like a waste to use ammo on red bars and yellow bars feel like they take [i]too much[/i] ammo to kill. Not to mention the weird clash animation that takes 4 seconds to end if a dreg melees you at the same time. Swords suck. Straight up. But buffing the damage wouldn’t make me use them either. They just don’t feel good to use.

      Bungie: we want choosing to be close up to be rewarding because it's dangerous. Bungie: why don't players use shotguns, glaives and swords? Also bungie: makes bosses try to throw the player a billion miles away if they get close. Sees that's no longer working so they add a lingering fire effect to stomps. Sees players use well to counter damage. Nerfs swords, glaives and shotguns into the dirt. Bungie again: why aren't players using close range and melee weapons? Players: 🤨

        Yeah idk why they even bother, it's like Hive swords.. you could get the sword upgraded to max in CoB and still it would be sooooo bad against mobs, only thing it's good for is being able to break boss shield AND also do a good chunk of it's health dmg on heavy attacks (tosses energy slashes at it)

      • This is why they will never be a widely usable weapon. On top of burning stomps. Swords are movement and crota only.

          • Minors should get killed by one light attack. Low level majors should get killed by a heavy. Something like an ogre or something kinda makes sense to not get one hit killed by a light if it’s a minor or a heavy if it’s a major.
