All new exotic weapons are earned through seasonal quests now, or rng raid/dungeon drops
Gone are the days of getting Gjallorhorn from a random crucible match , or farming 3 of coins on Draksis,Winter Kell trying desperately to get Telesto
Oh and getting the most powerful exotic in the game for finishing last in a random crucible match

🙋🏻♂️ I miss those days. Just out goofing around and see that engram, grab it and get so excited.

I miss when Bungie was actually able to produce a dozen+ exotic weapons and a dozen+ exotic armor per expansion. But alas, making content is hard and Bungie is a small independent studio with no major company giving them a ton of money -
Kinda, but not enough. And I definitely don't miss the whining about the drop rates or getting one you already own over the new thing. And I would rather never hear that whining again than have them back in world drop pools, personally.

I miss getting exotics from something other than incredibly tedious dungeons or tedious difficulty activities that I basically skip because I don't pay to not have fun. this game's job is to entertain me if they want more playtime and cash shop purchases from me this game is competing for my time against other games and RL entertainment if anything is gated behind something unfun, it might as well not exist in my game . Doesn't matter if I can 'work' or actually finish the tedious activities. All that matters if whether it is fun. Free time is too precious to waste any of it on something not being entertaining all of the time. devs often seem to design around chasing skinner box addicts who will endure massive amounts of unfun activities for the tiny dopamine rewards, just actively pressing a player manipulating design rather than focusing on entertainment

I don't dislike the current system but I do miss the time where cool and rare gear could drop from random activities too.
-
I miss Exotics actually feeling powerful. Nowadays, it feels like any Legendary can easily compete with them.
-
Yes, I think they should keep the way they are doing it but also add some world drops that cut can sell just to add a bit more excitement to engram drops.
-
No, not at all. Exotics are just that. They’re exotic. They get limited use (most of the time) and you build around them. They hardly ever make or brake your setup, and if they do; well it’s a good thing you can get most of them easily… Everyone knows the real “end game” chase is in getting god tier legendary weapons. If you have god tier legendary weapons (which takes significantly longer to chase and earn) then that’s true “end game”. There’s moments where I won’t even be using an exotic because apart form it’s exotic attribute, it’s no better than some legendary weapons I have

Definitely

God yess… the grind exotic engram is just like who cares

I miss the random exotic drop. Exotics are too plentiful and easily acquired that it feels like they can no longer be powerful or game changing. While there would be a real dislike, I feel, I wish they were extremely rare drops but were over powered that would make getting that drop super exciting; game changing for the recipients. It reminds me of an old Drifter line to the effect of “everyone’s got a malfeasance…”

The heck are you on about ? No way, bro! - old
I miss those days. I guess it’s at least partly an attempt to promote engagement with specific activities instead of just leaving people to do what they want. But I’ve never liked the ‘new’ system. -
I miss how special it was to get one. I understand the frustration from never getting one, but there not special anymore.

Yep, there is no magic in D2. Just a list of chores, a second job nobody asked for. The game itself has to have a damn YouTube guide for everything now.
-
I definitely miss that. I know the better players like the guarantee of getting the exotic through a quest. It eliminates the random aspect and possibility of not getting one to drop. And I do get why some players prefer that. I much prefer that surprise and feeling of seeing that exotic engram and knowing there is at least a chance of a new weapon. Some of the exotic quests are just mind numbing long or include at least one aggravating step…Parasite Pilgrimage comes to mind. Even a minuscule chance of a new exotic weapon drop would be nice

I've had Gjallarhorn drop way too many times for me. This being in the months leading up to when Xur resold the weapon, the gun dropped from a blue engram. My first exotic drop in the game though came from that Venus strike with the giant Fallen captain (which later became a Taken-based outing). It was Suros Regime, my first exotic weapon (which is a decent weapon in its own right).

Miss those days. Main reason I went back.
