Future of Destiny 2

I really like Destiny 2 because of it's gunplay and some MMO aspects like questing and crafting. I think with the upcoming update Frontiers they are doing what they've continued to do by updating systems and improving upon them like they did with the subclass changes. Something I really hope Bungie considers in the future is the addition of trade skills and armor crafting. They already have a lot of the systems in place with planetary resources. If they were to associate a trade skill and level with certain types of resources they could add a leveling system and tie that in to a crafting system. For example on the EDZ there is Dusklight Shards. This could be tied to a mining skill, that instead of a pickaxe like traditional MMOs, uses a mining laser for example. They could do the same for other resources and make a few different ones. From here they could add different tiers to the resources and skill level requirements. They would have to make animations for the gathering as opposed to the current system where you just hold a button and the resource disappears. For crafting they could add stations in the tower or in a new social space where you'd refine these materials or craft items with them. Instead of the message that appears when a player receives an item like "{player name} found {exotic}" they could make it say when a player levels up a skill in the social space. From here they can add armor sets that boost resource gathering/higher stat armor crafting chance/less materials used. They can also make microtransactions for skins for trade skill tools and such. Also new titles to chase and cosmetics for class items that show case a high level trade skill. I know a lot of people might not like this idea because it's just another grind but I think if they go about it the right way and make it an alternative instead of the better way of getting armor then it could work out well. It should still yield random rolls in stats like drops do, that way it is no better than farming a certain dungeon for certain drops. I think this would be a good chill feature to add and would attract a lot of players that like skilling in other games like New World, Runescape, etc. I think this would even further separate Destiny from other games and just add to it's longevity. From here I'm sure there is lots of seasonal content they could come up with as well.

  •
Future of Destiny 2
Non existant. Bungie has killed the game by not keeping up the content flow with major expansions to look forward to and by basically putting the game on bare minimum effort cash grab life support mode. They shifted most of their resources onto now failed and cancelled incubator projects and the upcoming extraction shooter Marathon (extraction shooter hype is long over and i doubt that game will hit when it releases because it will release 4 years too late) So yea. Bungie gave up on their main and only pillar franchise that currently makes them money for some uninspired doomed to fail projects. Nice.

I honestly am waiting on the announcement that Sony is canceling all future expansions and updates for Destiny 2 so Bungie can shift all focus to Marathon, Sonys next big live service flop I hope I am wrong , but don't be surprised when it happens

All good ideas if implemented properly. Frontiers will give everyone a better idea and more in-depth understanding of what Tyson’s vision is for D2. I’m personally excited to see how the game evolves and changes over that year and beyond.

      • Absolutely waste of effort writing this. Truth is destiny is low priority, low staff, low budget, they wanted it to end with lightfall as per the ex community manager on twitter, it's in its death spiral according to Jason schrierer/Jeff grubb who spoke to staff at bungie & Sony. They've been told to work with what they have so expect pretty much reused assets & balance changes/tweaking, expect very little new content. We've already dropped to 2 seasons a year with no story & theyre free so imagine how light it is, 1 raid & 1 dungeon. The game is saying goodbye & all hope is lost

        • I don't like that kind of thing. There are plenty of games with crafting; gather ten rocks and make a stick. Gather fifty sticks and make a club. Upgrade the club to get a slingshot, etc. I liked Destiny before all this crafting make work. I hated No Man's Sky because of the crafting and don't want D2 to go that way. Looks like we'll both be disappointed. Welcome to Destiny.

        • No we don't need trading or more materials added it's not an mmo it's a looters shooter with Co-op aspects. Trading inbany game ends up becoming overly inflated and a mess

        • Please no. Trading, mining, skill levels. I'm not sure I could uninstall fast enough.

          • Trading will be the death of Destiny. Crafting has done some Good, but mostly bad to the health of the game. It should have ONLY been badluck protection. Not something to define the meta.

They're part and parcel to what make up RPGs. Destiny is not an MMO at all; it's a looter shooter. Looter shooters have RPG elements baked into them because they came from MMOs in the same way that MOBAs came from RTS games (remember, Borderlands was marketed as a "single-player MMO back in the day). Bungie got rid of their rudimentary armor crafting back in D1 when they got rid of plasteel plating and other Armor mats, and they got rid of planetary resources years ago to "simplify" the game (and probably to take some of the load off the engine). They are unlikely to do anything like what you want them to do here because the game itself probably can't handle it, and because they simply don't have the resources at the studio to devote to it. Remember, the bulk of their now reduced workforce is on Marathon because that game really will be make or break for them.

Those Raid / Dungeon / GM grinders would be able to sell surplus items - weapons mostly, to those of us who steer clear of such. It’d be a big success if done properly. And BHQ could levy a small tax on each sale - the proceeds split between a BHQ ‘In Game’ Administrative a/c - to oversee the trading post activities, and a BHQ Charity. Everyone wins! 🤩🥳😎 That is all. Ease Springs! 🫡 MDGA
