Being Penalized for reporting an issue
Hey everybody, I’ve had the bungie name “ORYX’S ONE INCH WORM” for almost 2 years now. I never used to report issues with the game, but recently I reported 2 separate issues. Shortly Following my reports my account name was changed. Which doesn’t make sense because my name doesn’t violate the name guidelines. So as a person who loves this game, it feels like I’m being punished for trying to improve the game and resolve issues. I might just completely drop the game at this point. Please at least give me a name change because it’s not fair that I’m stuck with “Guardian” and some stupid numbers for at least another year.

1 ReplyAt this point I now know what implicit means (I didn't before). I do know that my name was implying something and I'm sorry. If I can ask, can I at least be given a name change? I promise I will just make it my Xbox username which Xbox has no problem with, meaning bungie shouldn't have a problem with it either right? Please consider it, I'm truly sorry if my name was that inappropriate .

2 RepliesEdited by EckyThump: 3/4/2025 10:22:25 PMHey there, unfortunately posting on the forum gives your username a lot more visibility than it may have had previously, that means names that may be against code of conduct could get actioned a lot quicker because of this. Name defaults are not a punishment and false reports are disregarded. It got reported by a user, Bungie reviewed it, and decided that your name violated code of conduct - there isn't much point in trying to argue it with me or any other reply, it's not up to us and it's not up to you what is and what is not. If you do want my opinon it was likely taken by Bungie to be an implicit reference to poor Oryx having a tiny body part, that's probably not the worm the Worm Gods implanted into him. Therefore it goes against section 6 which covers implicit references, including slang for body parts. You can disagree with my take (I am not involved in any part of code of conduct enforcement) but don't think it's any kind of penalty or punishment, it was a user report and Bungie reviewed it in complete neutrality; they didn't know you posted and it absolutely was not retaliatory. People post here all the time with all kinds of issues.
