The taken path bugged step 1
So I was playing with my brother and we got through the K1 Revelation Lost Sector and found the Taken orb and plate. At the end my brother picked up the fragment and he got the next step appear, but I couldn't pick up the fragment (I guessed it despawned?)
Now, I'm still on step 1, but I can spawn the Taken orb to start the encounter again.... I've tried abandoning and re-picking the quest, and restarting the game, but the Lost Sector won't load the taken stuff anymore. Also tried loading a different character - but no dice.
How can I progress the quest line now?

Should it possible to not pick up the taken fragments at each step? I realise that this will be my fault, but still if I can go back and redo the steps then how can I acquire the exotic?
