I'll try to answer (without reading article.. may have in the past) You are looking at it from [b]Bottom-Up[/b].. I mean we are way in the bottom as customers of a recently acquired sub-sony group. From the [b]Top-Down[/b] in terms of Sony's board + CEO/Pres their stock chart is near all time highs and has been on a strong upward path for nearly a year. mkt cap around 150B... so despite what we may think investors are overall pleased with the company (not disputable because the stock chart goes up no matter what they say.. meaning its considered a valuable company and can grow.. didn't look at dividend) ..so you'll say well I still want to run a tight successful ship even if the overall company is doing well?.. well that's where being at the right time at the right place helps.. [u][b]the potential[/b][/u] of somebody at Bungie either spreading successful methods (online gaming..etc) to the rest of Sony Games or developing a successful product (gummy marathon whatever..) is considered more valuable than dismantling everything... but this can also be nuanced by time. They can take their time.. they have that luxury for now since investors are happy. Lesson > Potential is worth more than actual (with time consideration due to overall positivity on Sony stock for example)

But to your actual question, Sony would be the ones who ultimately hold Bungie responsible. But also, take the article with a grain of salt as it comes from a disgruntled ex employee with no substantial proof that management wanted it to fail.
