(Bit of a deep cut here, but its worth it I swear)
I have been having a think with a couple guardians of mine, and because we had a new player (Joined during Into the Light) we eventually ended up talking about the OLD skill system and old Sunbreaker.
How it was basically an entirely different subclass focused around playing really agressively instead of the passive playstyle sunspots create now adays. This discussion of course led to us talking about the current poor state of Sunbreakers & their place when Prismatic exists.
The overlying issue we came too was that Sunbreakers are HEAVILY married to Sol Invictus because inside of any difficult activity healing grenades are not enough to keep you going without a very careful playstyle. This reliance meant that no matter what you must have it equipped, and because of that regardless of any future adjustments Sunbreakers might get, your buildcrafting and playstyle will ALWAYS be forced to be passive.
My newer guardian friend then came up with what I think is a FANTASTIC idea that would genuinely help open the build crafting & make room for builds not using Sun Spots. His idea:
"What if having Roaring Flames active made your ignitions Cure 1x you?
And having max stacks of Roaring Flames gave you Cure 2x instead?"
And all of us just, paused to think.
Giving R.F. cure on ignition would 100% bring back that hyper agression that Sunbreaker 2.0 had, AND give a way for Sun Breakers to heal without needing sunspots! You could uncharged melee hit targets to ignite them and heal yourself, AND it would synergize extremely well with both Consecration and Hammer Strike which both cause mass ignitions.
It would also be pretty ballenced still if Sol Invictus equipped, because S.I. allready forces you to be healed 24/7, so the extta cure will rarely be useful. The combo would just exist for those who want to build towards extreme tanking.
This idea would also make room for other aspects to be able to be made too, since suddenly Titans dont have to have the manditory Sol Invitus slot. They could drop it out for Consecration or what ever else may come in the future, because their healing needs will still be met via ignition healing.
What do my fellow sunbreakers think? How would this play out in game?
I personally would love to see this as a return to form for Sunbreakers
