Probably somewhere within the galaxy. Probably no more than a few hundred to a thousand light years away as the Eliksni arrived in our system a century or two after our collapse happened, probably closer to the upper estimate as the Traveler had to have had time to travel from Riis to here, humanity to have its Golden Age, and the Collapse to happen.
And we know that Misraaks was born not long after the Whirlwind and was pirating about for a century or so, but is considered young for a Kell by Variks, so Riis-born Eliksni like Eramis, Variks and Ixis being close to a thousand years old or more is not out of the question, much of that age potentially being spent travelling from Riis to Sol.
Unfortunately, I don't think we will found out precisely how far or where until maybe Frontiers. I'd love to know how far all the homeworlds of the races we've met are.
My theory is that order of distance the homeworlds of the main factions we know of are as follows, based on the lore and in game events:
- Torobatl (Ulurant Cabal) - based how quickly Ghaul was able to reinforce the
rest of the rest of the Cabal legions already in Sol.
- Rest of the Cabal races homeworlds, including the Psions' - they had to be pretty close by to Torobatl in order to be conquered by then.
- 2089 Volantis - Vex's 'homeworld' - the star is named after and most likely part of, a real life constellation, whose stars are between 120 to 600 odd light years away on average.
- Riis, Eliksni homeworld, based on Traveler's travel time, our Golden Age and how long after our Collapse the Eliksni arrived in Sol.
- The Fundament - Hive homeworld, based on the fact they have been conquering worlds for literally tens, if not hundreds of thousands of years, and potentially might have to be relatively nearby to Riis if the Traveler went from there to Riis afterwards.
- Lubrae - Lubraen homeworld, based on the fact that Rhulk travelled there after the Traveler left Lubrae, so they must be relatively close by.
The Qugu homeworld, Nezarec's homeworld and the Witness's homeworld are a bit more unknown due to there being less info about these races. Considering both humans and Psions worshipped him at some point, it is safe to assume his home might be somewhere near both potentially. Either that, or he travelled a lot. The Qugu travelled by a network of gateways, so it is hard to know the distances covered by these as they aren't stated. And we know very little about the Witness's world.
