I just joined a Nether instance where the guardian was at a stage boss and out of revives. Since we load in dead when it's in progress and he or she was out of revives, I couldn't rez to help. They beat the boss, and even then I couldn't revive.
Then why even have me join that instance? Why have a player load into something that they can't play?
I actually kinda like Nether. I know that's not a popular opinion, but the lack of traditional health regen is making me better at the game overall, I think (I'm not saying you're wrong if you disagree; just that it's forcing me to correct reckless play habits that cause me to die too much).
But the what I described above shouldn't happen. Either it shouldn't consume a revive if we join in progress, or it shouldn't be possible to join a game where the guardians are out of revives. Alternatively, you could just change it so players who join in-progress games load in alive (like in Gambit or Crucible).

Agreed.
