Suddently getting frame drops after doing nothing

for the past roughly month, I've been getting stuck often bellow 60 fps on a 2080ti. where as all the time before, it would easily exceed 100 fps. I've tried updating drivers and all but nothing would end up working more than for a few hours and the game breaking again. As well as all of a sudden I've started getting the game to completely freeze screen if not tabbed into it for too long. I don't know what to think of anything to be affecting it other than the game itself breaking. if anyone has any solutions what so ever, please let me know.

  • If you are using Nvidia, look into the software. About a month or two ago they forced the new app on my PC. I just got it working last night by having to reinstall it with a newer installer. I was getting lag in EVERYTHING except like 2 games. Crazy frame drops and stuttering. I was going from 144 frames down to 40 randomly. Not gradual changes but sudden dips.
