How do we help titans out with their recent identity crisis? i have a idea revolveing around buffing & reworking them.
i understand that game design is hard and extremely expensive especially when balancing for stuff shared between classes so i am completely aware this might not get noticed at all but here's my idea regardless, also apologizes for my abysmal spelling my autocorrect broke recently and im trying to get it fixed ;w;
this is a lot of words as well and dives into therycrafting a way to help titan become what it should be a tanky boi with good selection of alternatives for a brawling play style.
My idea to re-balnce and give titans their identity is to instead of doing DPS buffs like warlocks cover or doing flat Damage or damage enhancing debuffs to enamys like hunters do is, this idea is to make titans take agro and be the wall of the fire team pulling ads away and using abilitys to dive into crowds to remove the trash quickly and efficiently to allow the team to focus on the BBB (big bad boss) based off of 3 core principles:
-titans are walking tanks and the shield of the fire team
-titans can throw adds around like rag dolls
-titans hand out plates of armor like its dinner time
the goal of this is to make titans reliable damage sponges in PVE and a genuine threat in PVP by making them passively have higher damage resistance due to how bulky their armor is and make you think twice about getting into melay range with them.
and with stuff from void strand and stasis being team shielding and with shield buffs every stack of frost armor,woven mail, void over shield percentage gives the titan and nearby fire team members more damage and in the case of a void over shield it will be much harder to break and banner of war grants woven mail on activation to the titan and allys inside its effect.
additionally for their melay titans could slam dunk grunts like its a Tuesday chore to allow classes with more potent damage focused on the priority target during a fight and in some cases with exotics daisy chain their way through a crowd and get stuff like banner of war's effect but in large pulses to give ally's resistance buffs and to deal damage and apply debuffs to enemys around the titan further increasing their melay effectiveness with the radius being a little smaller and weaker to avoid it killing people through walls but still applying debuffs that make them easier to clean up.
and ultimately they just need to be able to get blown up and brush their shoulder pad like it was nothing at least once or twice in PVE going with passive knock back resistance and their resilience stat having a stronger effect on titans and the same mentality could be applied to warlocks and hunters like warlocks doing more effective healing with a high recovery stat or hunters having a higher jump and faster sprint speed with high mobility to keep buffs fair and lean into who those classes are.
and when a titan gets into critical health solar and arc could focus on bounce back and feedback loop based combat where damage resistance buffs are turned into thorns like effect where damage is reflected or some damage is taken but the other chunk is delt right back to a nearby enemys for arc and solar triggers enhanced recovery and grants radiant on yourself and "Molten Flail" a keyword only accessed by titans where it gives you a special melay where you take a large hammer and slam it into the ground causing a large pool of magma to spill out granting healing radiance and dealing scorch damage to enemys inside of it and enemys that die leave sunspots as well.
and arc grants "Countermeasure Cables" that reflects projectiles except for supers and some types of explosives witch is less effective at shielding you and your allies but makes your fire team a walking telza coil where if you stick together you create a arc web that grows in power the more people are in it with greater range accumulating to succeed in making a web of arc vaporizing enemies in your way and paring it with ACD/0 FEEDBACK FENCE will grant its exotic perk and as long as the buff is active grants that perk to everyone in the web.
Void's oversheild needs to be granted a hefty buff to prevent it from just shattering instantly in high level content and wile it is active on you on your fire team it could grant suppression rounds on all weapons as long as its active
Woven mail could use some tweaks to enhance its damage buff but i think titans just need to be able to prock it reguarly by adding the ability to getting precision kills with a strand weapon grants it, and suspending targets creates threadlings when woven mail is active
Stasis could be focused on shattering targets and ice like it currantly is but needs more potentcy so with frost armor getting buffs to its damage resist like woven mail i think the biggest problem is shatter damage and how hard it is to do much of anything with it so instead of just one melay im gonna throw in a brand new one to work with this idea first the rocket punch could be upgraded so that it deals large knock back that when a enemy is sent into a frozen target or stasis Cristal it shatters them dealing critical damage.
additionally wile frost armor is active shatter damage on titans are considered critical hits and slow the target after succesfully landing critical hits
next is a new melay "artic stomp" when it is stomped with no stasis shards in front of it it creates new ones that shatter in a few seconds after being deployed but when there are shards in front of it in a 50 meter cone in front of the titan all shards and frozen targets are shatterd and the titan gets a stack of frost armor for every shard shattered in this way
and for solar sunspots could be used as a multitool for survival and damage and be the main focus of titans with a aspect that allows titans and only titans to turn their grenades into mini sunspots simmeler to how warlocks eat their granades to fly titans deploy a fan of sunspots after chargeing it up into a molten ball of fire granting x3 cure and the earlyer mentioned "Molten Flail" perk these mini sunspots can provide healing and radiant to nearbuy fireteam members and full sized sunspots can merge with these to become inferno spots where they deal massive damage and also grant stronger buffs that last longer too.
