I knew this Exo once. Ran with him for a while, we were close. As close as hunters get, anyway.
I remember he told me about... resets. About when an Exo’s memories start to leak in, or they get traumatised, or... well, just about anything really. They reset ‘em. Back to factory settings. Clean wipe.
He was on his 4th back then.
He told me once, that he was scared. He worried that if they could take memories away, that maybe they could add them too. Or worse, alter them.
I’ve never been able to forget it. Because... the same thing happened to me, didn’t it?
When I woke up on that field. I was reset. But I’m flesh and bone. It, shouldn’t be possible, right?
But I don’t remember a childhood, or parents. I’ve been back to the place I died, because it’s my first memory... It... matters, to me. I think.
Guardians don’t dream. But... I swear I have. I can remember having dreamt. But never what it was about... is it possible that, the traveler can still control what we see?
So if, we ever dreamt of our past lives, it could hide that memory from us?
I don’t know. All I know, is every now and then when my ghost revives me, sometimes I think I wouldn’t mind a reset. A clean slate. To wake up and not have these questions anymore.
To walk back in the city and feel like I belong, mistakenly or otherwise.
A fresh start.
I’m romanticising one of the most traumatic moments of my closest friends life... Man, I have been outside the walls for too long.
I miss soap.
