I realize I'm hours too late on this, but honestly I have 2 sure thing hiccup stoppers.
Lemon juice or dill pickles.
The acidic reaction from either stops the hiccups almost immediately on upon swallowing.
I always seem to get the hiccups from drinking through a straw, so if it's fast food, and it had a pickle (I always remove and save for this reason), once the hiccups begin, I just eat the pickle, and it stops them.
If I'm at home and get them for no apparent reason, I have a bottle of lemon juice in the refrigerator. Primarily for this very reason.
