Shaggy would've served in Vietnam
According to the creators of the original show shaggy is 17 in 1969 meaning in 1-2 years he'd be the perfect age for the draft. Fred was also 17, they'd probably have served together. The war didn't end until '75.
Edit : the original show ended in '70, just around the time they would've been subject to the draft . . .
