Sticking in Asia, today we look at India, as well as Hinduism and Buddhism references in Destiny:
Weapons:
- Bronzed Yamaduta-SR4 (Hinduism) - messengers of death according to Hinduism.
- Pariah (Indian) - A member of the Paraijar caste in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu.
- Naraka SR4 (Hinduism) - Naraka is a place where souls are sent for the expiation of their sins.
Ships:
- Karuna, Falling (Buddhism) - the concept of compassion in Buddhism I known as Karunā. The flavour text for this ship reads, ‘there is nothing more ruthless than compassion’.
- Ahamkara (Hinduism) - one of the four parts of the antahkarma (inner organ) described in Hindu philosophy. It’s a Sanskrit term, related to the ego. The ego is a very selfish stated conscience, which the in game Ahamkara set out to enhance in Guardians, giving them wisdom and Power, promoting Egoism.

- SIVA (Hinduism) - Shiva (also known as Siva) is known as a Supreme Being, god of destruction, Destroyer of Evil, god of yoga, meditation and arts. The in game SIVA has a parallel with the god, as SIVA has been used by Rasputin and the House of Devils as a force of destruction.

if you got this far, thank you for reading. I’d really appreciate if you leave any that I couldn’t find and I’ll edit OP with your find.

2 RepliesI dont agree about SIVA having to be Shiva Goddess of Death, force if destruction. That's a very narrow interpretation of of what it was designed for and only what the Fallen have done with it.

7 RepliesAn excellent read, as always! I’ll point you to another D1 grimoire (sorry can’t recall which off the top of my head, but it was one or two Rasputin-type comms) that refers to YUGA as some kind of warmind initiative. Yugas, IIRC, are ages in an epoch, or some such, in Hinduism.

7 RepliesEdited by braveheart7703: 8/22/2018 1:00:01 PMThanks for representing my culture. I am an Indian Hindu. One thing though, I get that it's (SIVA) is used to destroy, but it also creates, right? It could be used as a creative force.
