Umm.. no. More people being straight than gay means that being gay is uncommon. There is a huge difference between saying something is not common and not normal. One is based on statistics, the other is based on moral judgement. You are saying you don't condone who they are. If you can't see how that is an attack and offensive to someone, then you're beyond hope.
It's like going up to a little person and saying, "You're not normal, and I don't condone your short lifestyle. That's not an attack on you or anything."
