1) that video is 18 minutes long so I'm not bothering with that thanks. 2) it's always assumed that everyone is straight, therefore everyone is straight unless specifically stated otherwise. In order to have non-straight people in the game, it has to be specifically shown they're not straight. End of discussion.

  • Yes it does.

  • I think his point is that there needs to be more to a character than just that. It's nice to have diversity in characters, but just introducing a character as being gay for the sake of having a gay character is just stupid. Ana Bray should be about more than just that. That shouldn't be the main focus of her character.

  • I'm not disagreeing, but there does need to be gay characters in D2, in the same way as there needs to be non-white characters and non-male characters. Non-white and non-male is immediately obvious just by looking, but how do you make a character Gay without explicitly stating they're gay?

  • So there's needs to be everything but straight white ppl?

  • I guess what they're saying is white male is kinda the default, so there has to be a concerted effort to add diversity, which I do agree with. It's not excluding white males, that will probably never happen, it's just also adding other representations

  • I agree that there needs to be gay characters, but it doesn't need to be heard everywhere. The main reason people are complaining about Ana Bray is because every comic made about Warmind had something about her and her wife/girlfriend. As the OP said, it felt forced. Like they were trying to scream at people saying, "ANA BRAY IS GAY BECAUSE BEING GAY IS OKAY!." It's definitely a good message, but it feels unnecessarily talked about to the point where it's ridiculous. It's very likely that some people are homophobic specifically because of things like this. If you try to force a fact about something into someone's head, there's a good chance it'll backfire and cause them to think oppositely. I personally think they should've made Ana more like Devrim. He's gay, but Bungie isn't constantly screaming about it at the top of their lungs. He also has other traits that make him who he is. Being gay is part of his character, but not his whole character. Ana Bray on the other hand feels hollow. There's very little character put into her inside the game. The only real story about her is in the comics, but those are completely smothered in her love life. That's where the problem comes in.

  • Can you give me an example of Bungie “screaming about this at the top of their lungs?” I’m really confused by that statement because I never heard about Ana being gay until the community started screaming about it. I’m pretty sure Bungie only ever mentioned it in the comic. Not once was there mention of this in the game, or ANYWHERE ELSE, besides the comic (and the homophobes crying about it). You’re being a drama queen ;) but I’m glad you are because I didn’t know about this until today!

  • The comic was the only place it was revealed, but that's the only place any lore about Ana has been revealed. The problem isn't that she's gay, the problem is that that seems to be all Bungie made her to be. It seems like the only lore about her they care about is her romance.

  • That’s misinformed. I know all about Ana and the Bray family from reading the Grimoire... from D1. Try again.

  • That's not even relevant anymore. Bungie has started to ignore grimoire and it's not eve accessible on this website anymore. I don't count grimoire as lore because it's become irrelevant.

  • It wasn't "heard everywhere" other than in this forum... you literally had to go digging for it (aka: read a comic that's NOT in the game) in order to even know that she's gay.

  • You have to go there to get any lore in the first place. That's my point. The only real lore about Ana is in that comic, and all that comic talks about is how she's gay. Wow, very interesting. (sarcasm) I have nothing against gay people, I just don't really care about someone being gay if I know nothing else about them. Being gay alone isn't enough to count as proper character development, and that's why I find it kind of stupid.

  • Did you read the comic? Her sexuality is not the focal point.

  • I skimmed it. That's enough to get a general idea about it. From what I could tell, that was a good portion of the comic. It just seems like that's all there is to know about her from the comics. It doesn't tell much other than that.

  • I don't need to read the comic to get the story. There are pictures for a reason. Look, I'm not even really arguing anything. You dragged me into this argument when I was only trying to explain to the one guy what the OP was saying. I didn't have any plans to get deep into this argument. It's boring, and clearly you don't understand my point. I have no reason to keep this going when you insist on defending this horrible excuse for "lore". I want to say one more time that I'm not a homophobe. I even have a gay friend (yes, just a friend) who I know pretty well. I don't need you or anyone else trying to accuse me of being a homophobe. The only reason I don't like the Ana Bray lore is because it's not important lore. It feels like they're trying to replace lore with simple statements about sexuality. That's all I'm not happy with. Well, I know you won't leave me alone unless I do this. I'm sorry I have to. Muted.

  • Oh... and... “I even have a gay friend” is probably the most laughable “I’m not a homophobe” excuse that I’ve heard literally a bazillion times. And yeah, I kept reading... but, luckily, you’ve muted me so you’ll never know ;) I’ll see you on Grindr, boo ;)
