Genuine question since all loot drops are now useless to me and will be turned into parts, glimmer & shards. I'm happy with my current gear sets and weapon loadout so is there even any way I can progress?
Edit: I made this post to demonstrate how frustrating relying on the milestones for progression is, however I ended up logging in and just playing patrol on Mars for a bit. Did flashpoint on my Hunter which unlocked me Suros Regime (one of my favourite D1 guns) and just come off my Titan where I somehow got a little bit more power (blues now dropping at 339, legendaries still 340)
Like is there even any reason worth signing in tonight? I miss D1 when we didn't have milestones are the only way to raise light level..
(Also before anyone suggests I play a good game please leave the title of your suggestion)

I just play for fun, help clan mates or ride my sparrow through the EDZ & ask anything looking even remotely female to hop on.

Log in.. Complete milestones except for Trials and Raids... Log out till next week. Trials is hot garbage Raids require 6 people and time.. not something I always have. Yup Bungie TOTALLY fixed it.
-
Not really
-
Nope. Progression is non-existent outside of milestones, and raids. We used to have exotics, faction packages, strike specific loot, Archon Forge gear, and bounty rewards to grind for, but Bungie killed their own franchise with PvP cancer.
-
have you tried escalation protocol
-
There is the Sleeper Quest and the Data Nodes quest, nothing too much other than that. With the raise of the power level cap and the lack of progression it will take quite awhile to hit the power levels for Escalation and Spire of Stars. I've been grinding daily, but mostly to help others progress. I hate to say it but I like the mechanics of the game, but I wish there was more meat and substance to the actual game.

I'm level 347 and completed the flashpoint and got a 352 drop. Ok. I completed the clan milestone and only got 340 gear!! So is there only going to be one milestone drop that's going to be higher than the gear you already have? Is Bungie actually wanting players to leave their game? Seems like it

Get ya some tokens lol

Reasons to play 1. Weekly Milestones - About 4 hours per character, disregarding Raids and Trials. 2. Raids and Trials - Maybe you like playing with your friends, or maybe you want the ornaments. 3. Ornaments - Now you can get a phoenix facing left instead of right on the Crucible armors or get a Vanguard symbol on a different spot, or maybe you can grind for Iron Banner ornaments. 4. Weekly Events - 3 times until September, you can try to reach rank 40 on each of the factions, which will give you reskinned gear, or rank 40 on Iron Banner, which will give you some of the only good looking gear in the game. Better than playing Competitive anyway... 5. Competitive - Never play comp in solo queue. Just don't do it. 6. Stockholm Syndrome - You can never leave, no matter how hard you try. No escape, no way out, no freedom. Now buy Eververse lootboxes. 7. Eververse - With the new Prismatic Facet system, you can control how your drops work. All you have to do is play to get one, then hope it drops ftom a random selection of 10 items. You want the Disco Ball Ghost? Here's an ornament for a gun you don't even have. 8. Exotics - Warmind actually has exotic quests so RNG isn't a problem; except for the fact that most of the quests require RNG drops. Like the Infinite Forge weapons, you'll probably be in Heroic Strikes for days. 9. Heroic Strikes - Have you ever spent 10 minutes on a boss only to have your team wipe and have to do it again? Now you can do that all the time, being trapped 10 light levels below the activity with modifiers that kill you in 1 hit while granting a 0.5% bonus to grenade recharge. 10. Do It All Again - There's nothing better for escapism than having to repeat a task on a weekly basis not because you want to, but because you need to so you can eventually be able to have fun, before you have to go back to the grind so you'll be able to enjoy yourself again. Wait, that sounds like a job

Edited by Quickest Curve: 5/16/2018 2:41:36 AMProgression aside... What happened to the rest of the Destiny world? I was my understanding that Destiny 2 was made to include a dynamic scaling system in order to keep the majority of the universe relevant to everyone. Between the lack luster gear and now the updates to progression why would anyone venture out into most of the play spaces?? I end up being completely un-interested in the planets, lost sectors, milestones, normal un-augmented crusible, strikes and heroic strikes. With the exception of the weekly engrams, trials and the raid... why would we venture out? Seems like a waste of a lot of very beautiful work. Hopefully gear and progression gets a re-visit to let the whole of D2 become relevant once again!

Absolutely not! Do milestones, increase light level a little Do milestones, increase light level a little more Do milestones, increase light level a bit more Maybe now can do escalation protocol Until you are high enough to do escalation there’s not one reason to just play, unless you love getting junk loot drops
-
imo No. i played the dlc missions then i was going back to warframe..its 100% the better game and u always have something to do or to chase. and soon comes the division 2 and borderlands 3 so i think D2 will be dead soon.

Mm, I loved how d1s progression worked at RoI. It wasnt perfect, but it was definitely getting there, and with a few adjustments woulda been better.

No!!. This DLC Bungie is catering to the Streamers and YouTubers that have more time to play the game and make content all day. The casual player has been left behind this round. Its even hard to do the first round of Escalation protocol with out dying. All of my friends and clan members have given up on the game and have failed to return despite the new DLC drop. So trying to do a raid is out of the question since I have a full time career with a wife and children. The progression system is really SHT right now. If you noticed in the tower or any other social space there are maybe three or four players that are 350 or above. Most players I've checked are stuck at 340-348 pending milestones. THERE ARE NOT TO MAY OPEN WORLD ACTIVITIES THAT CAN INCREASE YOUR LIGHT LEVEL. The ones that can you must be 350-370 or you will be two shot. don't get me wrong I don't mind grinding but I should have something to grind for. There is no way I would go to work and not get paid. So why do an activity and get gear that is 338-340 when Im 348. Most streamers are happy that the casual players are left behind check out Bromans video on youtube he has no problem with the casual player being left behind , he even says it should have always been this way. The most tragic part is that the casual player will not surpass 340 with out milestones or until the next DLC drop which is what Bungie has stated openly. THEY SAY THAT TIME IS VALUABLE it is something that we can never get back. So waisting it on a game that has openly stated that most players will not reach the max level until the next DLC is not worth playing.

Honestly, I think that without miracle exotic drops, there is zero reason to play UNLESS you like playing the game. Like if you love crucible, play. Otherwise, no reason to play once you are done with milestones.
-
Nope unfortunately not. After completing the milestones I found some entertainment patrolling the new mars because it's new and the area is actually a well done patrol area. Unfortunately there's virtually no reason to other than site-seeing as you need to bridge the power gap before actually being able to enjoy the escalation protocols.
-
nope if you REALLY like grinding you can keep farming garbage to salvage into lootboxes and hope you get an exotic but thats such a low chance for your time that you are basically wasting your time
-
Not really unless your chasing something and sadly there’s not much to chase these days . The new progression system based on milestones is utter bs . It’s there to extend an already extended grind . It’s simple - All endgame activities should drop gear that can incrementally raise your power level up to the recommended level. Why should any player be penalized for having more time than another player . That’s what’s they are doing . They want EVERYONE TO progress as close to each other . Exotics dropping a 5-10 points lower ... seriously wtf . Bungie constantly shits on their playerbase. Come September bungie and asstivison are in for a wake up call .
-
Nope, and loads of people have been telling Bungie to go back to The Taken King progression style. But Bungie knows best...
-
Well you could work on your strikes with the IKELOS weapons...oh that's broken...you could work towards the nascent dawn...oh that's time gated...nope nothing to log on for.
-
If you can get your hands on a Nintendo Wii, then play the Metroid Prime: Trilogy. It is a very well made set of games, and they very are beautiful.
-
You can always make a new character. Bungle has stated that they are officially punishing people who have more than one of the same class --- Play how they want you to play ---
-
To answer your question, I must quote the words of a wise sage, "Friendship is the true endgame".
-
Just play for fun

Am i doing the Heroic Strike milestone incorrectly? I've completed 2 and neither of them registered for the milestone. Is there anything specific i'm supposed to be doing outside of just completing Heroic Strikes?
