As the man went to kick her in the head, the woman would spin and jump, grabbing onto his leg as he soared the the air. This action would allow her to follow him, so that when he landed and went to activate his energy shield, the woman was behind the man, albeit having stumbled to roll to the ground.
From her grounded position she would aim up with her pistol, firing off three rounds.
