"Alright, the ships have jumped over. They will be landing soon, do you have the location of the men?"
-
"One moment." The comms cut off, with Marker presumably talking to someone. "The driver dropped them off at a hospital in the village. These are the coordinates." A set of coordinates were sent to the general.
-
"Our men have landed now, a small squad is making their way to the hospital now, thank you fo-- The General was interrupted by a third listening in, it was Seamus. "You sellout piece of shit! I swear to god I'm going to-" "Looks like they know, don't worry, this will be over soon."
-
"It better be." Marker said calmly, shaking his head. He didn't like doing this. But.... If they were criminals then they deserved it. Right?
-
Gunshots could be heard from the hospital. Soon, updates from the squad were heard. "General! They're firing on us! We've got one wounded!" "Don't shoot unless you can absolutely be sure you don't hit anyone else!"
-
"..." Marker was silent, listening in over the radio. "General... Pull your men out. We don't need death. They'll need to leave that hospital at some point, allow us to extract any civilians. Then you can move in after them, without any fear."
-
The General was hesitant. But agreed. "Men, get out now, danger close, everyone stop shooting, and get out." "Sir, we've got Yuri captured, we can get the other!" "I'm sure, get out now, keep Yuri alive."
-
"Clear the hospital." Various forces started moving in, extracting civilians out of the hospital. Of course, some that were in critical condition, or in the middle of an operation were forced to stay, but guards were posted up there. After almost and hour, the hospital was mostly clear, allowing for the General's troops to move in.
-
Two of the soldiers had Yuri in custody, and began to move him to the ship to extract the item they needed. One of them hit him in the head with his rifle to get him to move. "We're sweeping through the second floor, no sign of Seamus. We found a broken window, he could have jumped out of it." The General sighed. "Keep searching."
-
"Worst case scenario, we search for him on the ground." Marker said, as Militia troops sweeped the streets.
-
"Sir, I've got good news and bad news." "Let's hear it." "Good news, we got the device. Bad news, Yuri took control of a fighter aircraft." "God damnit, 500,000 credits for anyone who shoots down tgat aircraft NOW!" The General was furious, but also sounded nervious.
-
"Weren't your men supposed to... Maybe knock him out?" Marker asked with a sigh.
-
"Anyone want to explain how you let him get away!" The General yelled. "Sir! Yuri shot down one of our transport ships, they crashed down and no one was killed."
-
Marker fell silent, listening to whatever happened over the comms.
-
"Everyone retreat, I'm sending a transport ship to these coordinates. Two fighters just went down, they're injured but they'll make it. I'm not going to risk the lives of my men, more will I risk the destruction of what we made. We'll get Yuri another time." The troops around began to retreat, ships still there quickly jumped to orbit to avoid conflict. The General sounded disappointed.
-
"You'll get em next time, general." Marker said, as the hospital was flooded with the patients that had left.
-
"Yeah, hopef-" Once again, Seamus had tapped into the comms. "Frontier Militia, wierd name. Why the hell are you helping that dickbag out?" Seamus wanted answers.
-
"You're a fugitive, with stolen goods." Marker calmed responded to Seamus.
-
"Stolen good. We stole one thing lad. But I don't how you can steal something that's yours already."
-
"Wait... What?" Marker asked, growing confused.
-
"Yuri, explain." "This army, I left it because of how bad it became. After I saw what they did to a group of rebels, I wanted out. The engineers the General mentioned, I was one of them. We had developed a new energy source, I was the main creator of it. But I wasn't going to let them have it."
-
"What... What did they do to the rebels? That warranted you wanting to leave?"
-
"The rebels were a small group. It should have been easy to shut down. But instead of taking prisoners, the army decided to use napalm on one their bases. However, there were innocent kids inside that base, burnt alive for no reason. Once the army moved in, they just executed them, put a gun to their heads and took their lives away. It wasn't needed, the rebels didn't stand a chance, and I couldn't take it. Besides, that wasn't the only reason I left, not due to that one situation."
-
"If... If the Frontier Militia did that I would leave. I can see where you're coming from..." Marker said, with a sigh.
-
"Now, have you called off your men yet? We would like to repair our ship lad, and be on our way."
