Chapter Twenty One
"The time has come for your initiation!" Declared Ulfric. Cannon, under the guise of Canderouse stood beside Bella, the Tokage leaders daughter. They stood at the foot of the grand staircase in the room Can had been taken too when he first met Ulfric. To can's surprise, the man was incredibly kind hearted. At least to his family, that is. He hadn't seen how the man treated his enemies.
Can had been training for a week. His skill with the weapons provided allowed him to work with the instructors easily. Bella too was skilled, as Cannon saw. She was quick with a bow and skilled with the dagger. She looked as if she had been training her whole life.
"YESSSSS!!!" Bella let out in excitement. Ulfric raised an eyebrow at her and she quickly put her hands to her sides and composed herself.
Can and Bella were being initiated into the Tokage clan. A critical step for Can to gain the trust of the clan as well as find more opportunities to take down his target Diana Coldbourne, who was romantically involved with Ulfric Tokage.
"Now." Ulfric started. "Your initiation is a mission of critical importance. We have seen Grenwald scouts in the area. They seem to be trying to get they lay of the land, but we cannot let them continue. Our obscurity is what gives us an advantage if the grenwalds were to attack us. As is the vice versa if we were to attack them. So, Bella and Can. It is your duty to find these scouts and dispose of them as you will. You can do this any way you like, but you cannot allow them to flee back to their territory. Do you understand?"
"YES! Let's go right now!!!" Bella yelled in excitement.

Cannon followed. He wished he didn't have to lie to her, but he had his mission. The mission allways comes first. He unslung his bow, keeping it ready for use as they went.
-
"BUT THAT BEING SAID, I'm still curious how you showed up so soon after Diana! We almost never got newcomers before then!" Bella asked Can.
-
He laughed. "Just luck I suppose. A friend of mine was hurt by some bad people, and tgat eventually lead to me ending up in the forest where I got saved from the Grenwalds by you guys." Cannon explained, using as much truth as he could.
-
"What..?!" Bella asked him. "I...who got hurt?"
-
"A friend of mine. His name was Alex. He could be rude at times, but he was generally a nice guy." Cannon told her. "I don't like talking about it though, so please don't tell anyone else. I don't like being the center of attention." He added to ensure she didn't leak any of the info to Diana by accident. She may know he was an assasin, but he didn't want her finding out who he was.
-
"YES! OF COURSE!" Bella affirmed as she nodded her head incredibly fast. "I swear not to tell ANYONE about it Can! You can count on me!"
-
He smiled. "Thanks, Bella. I knew I could count on you, though you probably don't want to hear about it. It's a sad story."

-
"You have?" He asked, walking along beside her.
-
"Ya...pretty soon after I was born actually. I barely knew my Mom...because she left and all. And then just a few months ago my Uncle Wulfric was killed." She seemed to compose herself well on the topic. The girl had been through more than what Can may have initially expected. "But...ya. That's that I guess! What I'm saying is that I know where you are coming from!"
-
"I've lost a lot of people, which is why this time I tried to avenge him. That's why I ended up in the forest." Cannon said.
-
"Ya! Well, at least you're here! ....and I guess it's a good thing your goat led you here, huh?" She asked Can as she skipped through the tall lush grass.
-
He chuckled. "Yeah... Though that killer may still be out there." He muttered, just loud enough for Bella to hear.
-
"WHAT!?" She asked as she suddenly twirled around on her heels to face Can.
-
"I never... Actually caught whoever it was." He replied sheepishly.
-
"Hold on one second! You said you came here to avenge your friend Alex! Meaning that...the killer is here...in the woods...and is alive...."
-
"They cpuld have left the woods by now. I kind of lost the trail when the Grenwalds attacked me." He replied.
-
"Well if they are here, I'll help you catch em! Nothing will stop this power duo! WHOO!" Bella exclaimed as she began to skip ahead again.
-
Cannon smiled again. "I don't see how. Like you said, there aren't many strangers around. They'd have to be fairly new here, but still less recent than me."
-
"Well they are someone! And detective Bella is on the case!" She told Can with an affirmed tone.
-
"Well, if we come across any new people who've been here only slightly longer than me, keep an eye on them." He replied.
-
"Aye, aye Watson!" Bella said to Can. But...suddenly Cannon thought he saw something. A shimmer in the bushes or some kind of movement. Bella however didn't seem to notice as she continued to skip through the grass.
-
He already had an arrow notched, and reached out with one hand to tap her shoulder. "Something's there." He whispered.
-
Bella eyed around the area as she halted. She looked around more with suspicion as she suddenly dived into the bush behind Cannon and seemed to disappear from view.
-
Cannon kept an eye on the bush that moved as he slipped behind a tree, dissapearing as well. He kept his bow ready.
