"Who is she?"
Cannon asked.
"She seemed a bit... Different than everyone else. And I don't just mean the lack of a cloak. Is she from around here?"
English
-
"Oh! No!" Marzia said. She seemed excited about the push of the topic. "She came by a month ago as if from no where! Then, she began to well...see, Ulfric. If you know what I mean. The death of Wulfric, his brother, has weighed heavily on us, especially him. It's very possible that he's looking to her as a form of escape..." "How would you find escape in someone else?" Bella asked innocently. "Well, umm. Oh, sorry Bella, I really shouldn't talk about Ulfric like that. Anyways, let's get that cloak on shall we?" She asked Can.
-
Cannon noded thankfully. "Yes, thank you. Is it possible I could get it a tad thicker than normal?" He requested, hoping to get some possible armor value from it,
-
"Hmm? Oh, certainly." She said as she put the cloak away and picked out another. It was thicker then the last. "Ooooh. This one is nice." She told Can as she held it out to him. Bella felt the fabric and her eyes went wide. "It's so soft!!!" She said.
-
Cannon felt the cloak. "Aye, it is." He smiled slightly, a distant look in his eye for a second.
-
"LIKE REALLY SOFT!!!" Bella exclaimed again. "Yes, Bella, we know." Marzia said to her. She turned to Cannon. "So? Is this the one you want?"
-
He nodded, smiling and laughing slightly at Bella's exclamation. "This would do nicely... But I doubt I could afford such a fine cloak." He sighed.
-
"Oh, you don't have to pay silly!" Bella said. "You can just take it! We share like...everything here!!!" "It's true! We don't have a currency here. If someone needs something, then they get it! Within reason of course." Marzia let him know.
-
"Really?" Cannon asked, wide eyed. "That's amazing, thank you."
-
"My pleasure. Anyways, you should head over to the steelworks. You can pick up your weapons there." Marzia said. "THEN WE GET TO SEE WELTERS! Actually he's kind of scary...." Bella said quietly afterwords as she grabbed Can's hand.
-
Cannon picked up the cloak, as he was lead out, pulling it on. "The steelworks? I've never been to a steelworks before." He commented as Bella lead him.
-
The cloak fit Can nicely and the red worked with his own features. It was incredibly soft, and he noticed that there was actually leather underneath the seems. It looked like it could stop some force from an arrow. Bella lead Can out and the two walked down the street. "It's like...oh what do you call it...well it's a place where Welters makes like swords and bow and arrows! It's always so hot though...."
-
"Makes sense. It probably takes fire to soften the metal." Cannon agreed as he followed her.
-
"Ya! But actually he uses like...really powerful fire!" She said as she lead Can to the only different looking building. It was made of stone and heat emitted from it. "Here we are!" She said. The building really was just a square with a roof. It had a wood door, however.
-
Cannon looked the building over. "Huh. There isn't anything like this where I'm from." He commented.
-
"Well maybe that's because you are not from here!" Bella replied to him wittily as she walked up the stairs, holding his wrist.
-
He followed, laughing a bit. "That's very true." He agreed with her.
-
She opened the door, and Can was hit with a heatwave. As Bella walked in, as well as Can, he was able to get a look of the place. It...wasn't what he was expecting. The steelworks had tools. Power tools. There were drill presses and lathes and plasma cutters. It was a set up he wouldn't have seen in a place like he was in. There was a large, muscular tanned man with no hair working on a blade. He had it red hot and was hammering it. He hadn't noticed the two walk in. "Hello welter!" Bella greeted. Though, he didn't reply. "Welter?" She asked again. "WELTER!!!!!" "HOLY SHIT!" The man yelled as he jumped up from where he was standing and tossed the red hot tang up. The hot metal landed on the stone paved floor and he rubbed his face in annoyance. "Hello Bella...." he said to her. "Who's this?" He asked Can.
-
"My name is Canderouse, I'm new around here." Cannon replied, offering a hand to shake.
-
The man walked around one of the work benches he stood at. There were two in the room. He took Can's hand and shook it with a death grip. "Aye Canderouse. That's a weird fu-I mean that's an interesting name." Welters commented. He seemed to stop himself from saying something else.
-
Cannon returned the deathgrip before releasing his hand. "It's a fairly common name where I'm from."
-
"And where do you come from?" The man asked him bluntly as he picked the steel off the floor and put it back on the bench. "He's a Shepard! Like the guys that take care of sheep!" Bella stated. "Wow?! Really?!" The man said sarcastically. Bella pouted at the man's reaction. "Seriously though. Where you from? Same place that whor-I mean that woman came from? Diana?"
-
"Thankfully not. I came from the mountains to the south eats of the forest. Had a flock down there until the freaks in green decided thry wanted my sheep." Cannon replied with a laugh, noting how people around here don't seem to like Diana.
-
"Ha! Those damned Grenwalds. We'll take em out soon enough. Though I wish that damned woman wasn't here. She's been sending us out into the world to kidnap people or something! Crazy shi-I mean stuff!" "Wait what?" Bella asked. "Oh....sorry Bella. I know she's uh...close with your father and..." "Don't apologize. I don't have the strongest feeling about her either." "Good! A daughter ought to stay loyal to her mother!" Welters told her. "Ya..." Bella said as she trailed off and looked around the steelworks. Welter turned his head to Can. "Anyways! We gotta get you set up I would say. We may have a treaty to not be able to use guns and the like, but there's nothing in there saying we can't make the greatest swords and bow and arrows imaginable. I normally have to make weapons to suit, but I like you. So, you got any preference? Bow and blade wise?"
-
"I used to use a recurve bow for wolf hunting, or maybe a compound bow..." He said, looking around the shop.
-
"There's a big difference between a compound and a recurve buddy." Welters told him. "A compound bow is slower, smaller, and has a larger draw weight as well as cams. Where as the recurve is bigger, faster, and has less draw weight. Keep in mind we ain't shooting ducks, you'll be shooting people when the time comes." The smith told him grimly.
