Sort of but mine but diifferent. I guess I made too much money last year and went up a tax bracket (God forbid I try to rise) so I got put into a new higher tax bracket (by only a 1000 dollar margin) now I owe the irs a bunch of money so I'm working seven days a week. I still can't negate my responsibilities as a parent to help my son work on his baseball and homework. So yeah destiny doesn't exist for me except for

Innocent question (yeah I know, hard to believe on this forum) - don't you only pay higher tax rate on the amount you earned over the threshold amount or is US different?
