*Mortar rolls, minimizing impact. As he rolls, he notices a snapped tripwire where he stood* Mortar: It was a tripwire, guys, watch your step

"Guys? Aren't we the only ones in the forest?"

Cross: We're never the only ones. So long as the Exiled live here, they make ten feel like a hundred. That's just their tactics

"Wait Crossbow??? Weren't you supposed to go to the mountains?"

Cross; Yes, I did. Though I heard you and thought there was someone out here. Pardon my willingness to assist you.

"Pardoned." [b]Royal exited his cover behind the tree, watching the ground as he walked [/b]

Besides... These are fresh, so we need to focus our strength in here. I'll call Reese

"Okay. You do you. Just make Sure Reese tells Kross."

Reese: Not much, just a few stale tracks. We did find a carcass though, but it looked old, and Cross pointed out how recent the tripwires were set.

Cross: Yes, however I've learned that this is actually how they fortify walls if they're aren't as many patrol squadrons. Tripwire, pitfalls, the like.

"Fortifying positions through traps.... Interesting to say the least."

Mortar: But obviously effective, considering without seeing that line we'd still be looking for more people. Let's just keep our heads up and make sure just in case.
