You can start the game while the event is in progress, I'm confused by what you mean.

What I mean is that if Bungie starts it on the 27th, everyone can get a chance to enjoy the event to its fullest. By starting it on the 13th, it only gives people who get the game on Christmas one week to enjoy it forcing people who start out on the 25th a sense that they were being left behind in favor of the more fortunate ones.

There are people that are going to be trashed the entire week of the 27th - 2nd. Bungie is just taking us/them into consideration, that's all. ;)

That makes sense it would have been good for Christmas noobs to be able to be able to play for the whole event not miss half of it
