Year 1 theory
The inside of the traveler was first used as the black garden. In the story that was scrapped and thrown away when the alpha/pre alpha fell apart it centered around the traveler being secretly evil.
Sentient technology that created the vex, tried to turn races of sapient beings and control them, got attacked, fled to our solar system, eventually made it to earth where rasputin detected an imminent catastrophic event and attacked the traveler. Traveler was dying, sent out ghosts to revive dead people who had no knowledge of its evil, calling them evil names (warlocks are evil wizards, hunters are evil predators, titans are evil mythological beings) and used then to try to revive itself.
Turns out rasputin was onto it, sent in the exo stranger to tell the Guardian the truth, Guardian ends up teaming up with the awoken and getting into the black garden (inside the traveler). The garden was originally a sphere, rounded wall/floors going up into the sky.
You get to the heart, kill it, stop the traveler, save the world.

they had to cancel it when oblivion with tom cruise was exactly the same plot.

Thought it all sounded familiar lol

Just a little (possibly inccorect) culture note, but the Titans aren't technically evil, they're just antagonistic to the current gods (Zeus, Hera, etc). The Giants were the ones who did really evil things. The only two possible exceptions are maybe Tartarus (whose body makes up the Underworld region of the same name) and Gaia (who created the Giants mentioned before to kill the gods and basically replace them). Otherwise, most Titans only sided against the gods in a war because they didn't trust the gods. (Again, I might be inccorect, but that's what I remember from history/other reading I've done)
-
Well the titans schemed to kill their father, ended up castration him, making more titans, and then Cronos learned he'd be overthrown by HIS son, so he wanted to eat him. Basically. Strikes me as a little heavy on the evil side. Lol
-
If you learned your son would kill you, would you not want to do something about that?

That sounds dope why is that not the story we get

Because the devs and Activision wanted to dumb down the story so it catered to a wider audience to include teens. And the lead director didn't like how it was too linear of a story so they chopped it up, spliced it together and changed it to a mission styled game. The writer for the game actually ended up quitting/was fired just before vanilla destiny. That's why there is so many inconsistencies in vanilla destiny. Everything up to and including the taken king expansion was alrdy on the disc, it was supposed to be part of the main game. Activision wanted it broken up because they saw a way to make money. They thought it was "too much content for one story". You were supposed to be rewarded with damn near every exotic just by playing thru the story. Gally, an arc hard light, suros, all of it.

Thunderlord on the first mission. That would have been...shocking to some.
I'll see myself out.
* Golf claps * We like to have a lot of pun here.

One of my friends actually worked on the Destiny project with bungie, and he said that everything that's been released as DLC was on disc before they changed everything right before release (thanks activision)
