Do the fragments have to be on same character or just have grimoire for all of them?

This hasn't been confirmed yet so there is no answer to your question. I think it could go either way. If I remember correctly, the gold chests last year had to be on one character. Can't confirm

I would think that all 50 would have to be discovered on 1 character, not spread out
