The problem is most maps are too short or have poor sight lines to actually capitalize on any range increase. You have First Light which is god aweful, and bastion which needs no explanation as to how pathetic and lazily designed it is.
These maps don't work with the targeted intentions of a sniper therefore the commando sniper was useful and viable to PvP.

Edit 1: and if limited range is an issue that's not my problem play on a map(choosing a map is on forums) that allows a larger range radius. And please do not be rude via forum u can easily voice a point without calling out someone's "tactics" everyone plays different. Thank you. Edit 2: thank you again and no I raged quick after getting 3 different animal names (error codes). :(
