Well, there are furries as in people who like anthropomorphic animals (animals that act like or are similar to humans. Mickey Mouse is an anthropomorphic animal.) and there are furries as in anthropomorphic animals created by people to represent themselves. Furries don't have to be mammals though, despite the name.

Basically, anyone who chooses to associate with the fandom. The fandom itself is defined as fans of anthropomorphic animal characters, like many Disney films include.
